shopping

We will be taking a day trip to St Barts from St Marten. Is there a good website that lists all the stores/boutiques for shopping while in St Barts? Are there any great boutiques with designer jeans or mostly french brands? Thanks in advance.

This is the best I could find in terms of websites:

http://www.st-barth.bz/boutiques.htm

Most of the shops in St Barth are small, independent boutiques that don't have websites. They do carry mainly high end and French products. The best shopping overall is in Gustavia, the main town on the island. If you take the ferry you will arrive in Gustavia. The town is a U shape around the quay and the main streets follow the water. There are a few side streets as well.

The other area for shopping is St Jean, near the airport. Not as many stores but some great stuff here as well. There are a two main shopping areas here, one near the Eden Rock and the other just down and across the road (walking distance.)

There are a few places unique and local to St Barth: Sabina Zest (linen) and Poupette (beachwear), Laurent Effel (purses and shoes) and Ligne St Barth (perfumes, lotions, etc.) SBH has LV and Hermes stores and many other high end designers are available at Stephane & Bernard.

Have fun shopping!

Yes, the best way is to walk from Tom Beach to Eden Rock on the beach, then hit the few shops between ER and Nikki Beach. Just past Nikki there is a sidewalk to the shopping centers down the road. There are also a few shops across the road from the ER.

Cabs can be tough to find and often need to be arranged in advance. Did you consider rental villas instead of hotels? There are many that are priced much less than hotels and some come with a car in the low season.

We have never taken a cab in SBH so I have no idea what they charge.
