Carlis still goes strong.
About Parrot Club... it used to be one of my favorite places.
My recent visit was quite a disappointment.
They usually had to hide the thin salted bread sticks before I ate them all. ;) This time they were stale.
Service was slooooow, even with a half full place, no big hurry to serve too many people at once.
My favorite dish there, chaufa rice, a peruvian type of chinese fried rice downgraded significatively. I do not know whether they changed the recipe or the chef.
The floor was quite slippery in more than one place. It was not water, but grease! Quite dangerous. i let the staff know about it more than once and they did nothing.
It was quite steamy inside to top it all.
I asked our waiter to please let me talk to the manager and after waiting about five minutes after paying our tab, another waiter came forward to ask about what I wanted to tell her.
Also, it is one of those restaurants where they add a 15 percent tip automatically to your total. That is against the law in Puerto Rico but it seems no one ever dispute it.
I want to think that it was not a good day otherwise than the restaurant is going downhill. It is indeed one of the best in San Juan, so I do not know what happened that day.
Across the street and around the corner, Tetuan St. are quite a few restaurants. The rest of Old San Juan has plenty, so you will have enough to find a good one.
