The ferry to DR is no longer operating. You must fly, Jet Blue, AA have daily flights.

The ferry is operating.in Mayaguez in the west coast of the island. I believe it has a restaurant and casino inside. A friend of mine has taken it a few times. When I get in contact with him I’ll post more info.

The ferry is operational, and from what I could see from the website, it departs from San Juan and Mayaguez to Santo Domingo. The website is in spanish.

I talked to my buddy. He says he takes it from San Juan and the trip is like 10 hours. The ship has a mini disco, bars, a small casino, restaurant, etc...

The ticket price is $160 from San Juan, I believe it’s less if you take it from Mayaguez and the trip is shorter. You have to pay $10 when you arrive to enter the country. When you leave if you’re taking the ferry back to PR you have to pay $20.

I dunno I always fly when I’ve been to la Republica. I guess it’s the experience of being on a ship and traveling by sea. A type of small cruise experience.

I checked and they are back to bussines.

IMO, precious time is lost when traveling at the ferry. Vacations are short and time has to be maximized. Theferry is nothing to write home about.

I’ve never taken the ferry but my friend said it’s pretty a cool experience. It’s obviously not a cruise but as I mentioned it has a lot of things. He said late night the disco gets really good with salsa and other types of music and you get to meet lots of people. I guess that’s part of the appeal.
