Just wanted anyone intrested in the Ocho Rios (Runaway Bay ) area to have some heads up advantage information. We just returned from Runaway Bay, Jamaica on June 13, 2006. Not sure if I can enter a private villas name, but if you contact me I'd be glad to help with a great set up. A private villa had a great cook, cleaning woman, gardener and houseperson who have lived and worked at the villa for years. With kids aged 9,5,4 and 2 I was concerned. But the villa was safe, the help was like family. The food was better than a cruise we were on six months ago. Breakfast and Dinner was so filling the adults (3) of us, skipped lunch each day. We were asked what we wanted to eat and when. We all had Jamaican meals each day. The kids were catered to with whatever they ordered. A nice large and deep pool was all ours with a villa that had four bedrooms (spaced out privately) and five bathrooms. The grounds joined the golf course and were beautiful. And having daily cloths cleaning was ideal. Private golf carts were ours to go back and forth to a private beautiful beach. While there we toured the all inclusives. We were glad we booked a villa. It was better and better priced than the all inclusives. The only thing we had to buy was our drinks. But we were there to relax, site see and enjoy. We drink but not enough to gulp enough that would make an all inclusive worth it, at the expense of giving up the personal touch of a villa. Runaway Bay is perfect for day tours in each direction. The villa has a driver we hired out six days. We trusted him and saw everything in the area. Just trying to convince travelers to research the area. Had we chosen an all inclusive we would not have been returning or happy.

I would love to have this information. We are already booked for this year, but talked about next year, trying to find a private villa such as this. Please email me the information as I would be very interested.

Sounds like a great place. Feb. 2004 we stayed at the Beaches Grande Sport, now Sandals Grande Villa etc. in OR and I was pleased with the grounds and service, but the villa was in dire need of updating. A group of four of us vacation annually in Feb., and this sounds like a real possibility. Thanks for the great review, and I'd appreciate it if you would send the villa name to rosered7033@hotmail.com. Thanks!

The villa's name and web site is takemetojamaica.com. I spent several hours talking on the phone to the owners. They answered every question and did all they could to make our stay pleasant. They called to see how we were doing while we were there. Jamaica may present itself as a bit rough and dirty in places. But our family and sitter we brought along gave the trip and adventures we took a '10' when we got back. I'd be happy to answer any questions. My wife and kids would too. Don't expect a ***** hotel, but expect a relaxing, safe and central (to many sight seeing excursions) place with ***** food and staff. Rick

I stayed in Runaway Bay too and loved it! My villa was called Carousel Villa. It sounds a lot like the one you mentioned above the pool was in the center of the house and it was fantastic! We ate like Kings - lobster, jerk chicken, etc! We received diving lessons in the pool and then headed out to the Sea! We even road horses through the mountains and the sea. The best part was that they brought the horses right to the villa to pick us up! We are planning on going back this winter, I need to make the call soon to book it! I hope they still have some openings!

Anyone have a line on a villa like this in, or close to Negril? We've been to Runaway Bay and Ochee the last few trips to Jamaica, so I think it's time to head back over to Negril. Looking for a 3 or 4 bedroom villa with staff, pool, jacuzzi and possibly beachfront or private access (though that's not necessary if we're close to 7 mile). We're also fairly interested in checking out something on the West end.

For a suggestion on a villa in Negril... check out Sun-luvinWIgirls post on a thread by Relda Travellers... she states that it is at Rondel Village...

I'm posting the link to the thread I'm talking about... hope you can actually locate the post I'm writing about... try to copy and paste this address into your address/tool bar and see if it takes you there...

Welcome... :) I find it interesting that when you copy and paste a link to another page within Trip Advisor, it posts as a LIVE link... if you copy and paste a link address to another website or whatever, it is NOT live... that's pretty smart. Wonder how the system knows the difference... I just noticed that on my above post...

The experience above is pretty typical of villas in JA, at least the ones we've stayed at. Almost all come staffed and generally the staff turnover is low. The golf cart/course bit is rarer, generally villas that are part of a resort have this, not private villas elsewhere. Most have a pool, and either a view or are on the sea. Some are by themselves, some are in a resort, some are part of a community of homes that have residents and rentals both. I have yet to be unhappy with a villa stay, and we've stayed in 6-7 different ones around the island. My husband's family used to own and run one, in fact, and that one was our first.

Negril is the one place where this type of villa is rare, and it may be because it is so easy to get around to eat out that demand is lower. Moondance Villas and High Life and the Couples private villa are the only full-service villas in Negril I am aware of.

At Rondel Village, Beach House Villas and other "villas" in Negril, you share your staff with other units, cooking all meals is not all included in the price (or jnecessarily available) and the cook is also shared between units. They're great palces to stay and offer a lot of pros but they're not the same as the private villa experience.
