Anyone seen or have any actual pics of the new Palladium hotel? I know it is scheduled to open June 21st and I would love to see how it is coming along. Thanks!

As I've said many times...they will be opening one section (tower/complex) the other....SEVERAL won't be open for quite some time. Therefore there will be ongoing construction and dirt.

I wonder how long it will take businesses to pop up in Lucea to capitalize on the idea of tourism being near their town? Right now there is nothing other than local eateries and clubs. Not the type of places the guests staying at Palladium would feel comfortable in. There is nothing nearby the resort either. It's fairly isolated. Unless guests are content from staying within their walled compound or going on organized escorted excursions, there is nothing for them to do. Hopefully they are not mislead by strategic marketing. It will be interesting to see the reviews once they statrt coming in.

First of all I really agree with Blues Pirate. What it is is what it is. I really also do not know what people will do, if they get off the resort! Lucea is a very nice little town, but all local, as BP said. I must have driven by more than 40 times, but unless there are some beaches along the road, I never saw any. Wow! At least someone is trying to help people in Lucea, but can they get people to go?

This place will most likely never be on my future list.

that pic makes me sad. :(

And the place looks more like it would be some kind of institution or compound not a resort..is there even one on the island that has as many rooms as this one will have when it's finished?

I remember passing by it on my way in and out of Negril last November, and thinking how huge are they making this monstrosity. meh.

What a joke!

More future empty rooms blocking the view of the sea. How original!

I'll pass!

There are a couple of photos taken from near Ruseas High School mid February at: http://community.webshots.com/user/JAsoldier

Album: Jamaica 2008, pages 5 &6

I have to beg to differ regarding Palladium’s appearance. It looks infinitely better than Starfish and Jamaica Grande; they are monstrosities in my opinion. Architects have tried to give it some style.

I still would not want to stay there, I prefer to be with 100% Jamaicans, not 90% tourists, 10% Jamaicans LOL.

When I spoke to a friend that lives near Lucea, only a few days ago she laughed when I asked if the resort is finished. She thought it could be Christmas before it’s ready – but she’s not an expert.

If you google the name of this resort you will fine the official site complete with a computer generated video of this place. Of coarse it is made to show off the grandness of this place. As I watch it I found no appeal at all. All I see is a sea of rooms, huge court yards, a lack of beach for this place {though it boost 3 separate beaches} & a boring pool.

I just don't get the Spaniards nor the Jamaican Governments future projections at all. This company as well as some others {including RIU Mobay} all are places I would never go to & are not what I think of when I think Jamaica

Did not take pics, as it was still a long ways from done. I would strongly suggest no matter what the deal they may offer waiting another 6 months at least to go. A few blocks had rails and looked "complete" but the main entrance was plywood gate still. Very little landscaping. Still looks a major construction zone.
