Hi. What hotel/resort/condo would you recommend for a family of 4? I'm thinking MoBay, but I'm not stuck on it. We'd also go to Ocho Rios or Negril. Our daughters are 10 & 12. We want to go march/2006. We want a great beach -- preferrably not open to the public. We don't want to be anywhere near any Spring Break partiers. We don't want topless. Our kids don't need any special entertainment... but a waterslide would be nice! Also, we don't want to spend a fortune. Now that I've asked for the moon, any suggestions? Thanks!

Greetings to you my fellow Canadian.

The absolute BEST value for a family all-inclusive in Jamaica is undenyably Starfish Trelawny. ( www.starfishresorts.com )

My family will be returning there ( my 4th time at Starfish ) this December.

BEAUTIFUL private beach and in a secluded area so you will not find many "spring breakers" there. There is a tiny nude beach section but it is completely closed off from the rest of the beach so you won't even notice it unless you want to.

There are actually two great waterslides at Starfish as well as countless other great amenities.

The price is unbeatable.

Blessings and respect to you. Any specific questions just ask.

Steve

I would recommend the Wyndham in Rose Hall. They have a great waterpark for kids of all ages plus a childrens program. Although the beach may not be the best, it is private & topless is not an issue. Either mine or Steve's suggestion should suit your tastes.

Ok, canadianmo, when you find that moon, pass the info on to me please. I too, feel like I'm asking for too much. We have kids 14, 16, 18 and will be taking a 17 yr. old friend along as well. The first resort AAA recommended had Sesame Street characters and the kids would have to wear life jackets on the water trampoline. Then they recommended a Breezes, which has a nude beach, nude hot tub, drinking games at the pool starting at 11 AM, AND it was right next to the Hedonism resort. Yikes! We've gone from one extreme to the other. Now we're looking at Playa Del Carmen, MX. I have heard the Trelawny is decent. Good Luck!

I would definatley recommend Wyndham Rose Hall. It has great activities for kids. You will not find this place to be a "spring break" environment. There are plenty of families. It has a great waterpark with waterslides and a lazy river. Me and my father went to Wyndham and will go again. The food is really good too, has plenty of things for picky kids. It is a little pricey, but it is well worth it.

Starfish Trewlany is a good affordable family oriented hotel located just outside of Falmouth (40 minutes from Mo Bay). Otherwise Shields beach hotel in Negril is a great locally owned hotel. Its one of the least expensive hotels you can get on the 7 mile beach and its kept in very good condition. Shields # is (876)957-3112 sorry I don't know the website. Negril definitely has more to do in walking distance than Starfish but Starfish accomodates families well. Hope you have fun.

Tracy, Tracy, Tracy (123),

You said above: "Then they recommended a Breezes, which has a nude beach, nude hot tub, drinking games at the pool starting at 11 AM, AND it was right next to the Hedonism resort."

Sorry, but BRB is NOT so close to HIII that you have to worry. They're about 5 minutes apart by taxi.

Look at www.starfishresorts.com. See if it meets your requirements. I can also send you some ebrochures if you would like. I guarantee you will not beat the price:value ratio.

I think you will be hard pressed to find a resort without some type of A/N, no drinking games, no public access, no sprin breakers (in March) etc. But, good luck anyway......

cqshot...No need for a scolding. I got most of my info right off Trip Advisor opinions/ratings and even emailed some of those who had been to Breezes. It is surely within walking distance and is accessible from Breezes. I have an 18 yr. old son. While I do tend to be on the conservative side, I'm not stupid enough to think he and his buddy wouldn't want to wonder over there. To each his own, but I personally don't want my son having access to totally nude people and people getting their groove on, if you know what I mean. And yes, I even spoke to someone I know who has been to Hedo II and there are people who have no shame in showing their lust publically. Plus according to Trip Advisor opinions, most felt that it was not an appropriate resort for families. So....that's why I feel the Breezes isn't for MY family.

Tracy....I understand the concern about Hedo III and breezes....we were married at breezes two years ago and Hedo III is across the bay from Breezes....a long swin or a long walk by beach and I mean LONG....the starfish was right beside Breezes Runaway Bay...from what I saw it was very family oriented. The only way your son and his freind could get into Hedo III is for the front desk from Breezes to call over to Hedo and arrange for a day pass. So it would be pretty difficult for your son to do...but knowing the teenage mind...i was a male teenager once apon a time....there is not much we dont think of to get ourselves into hot water. Hope you find the resort that will suit your needs. We will be staying at the Riu Negril in two weeks and it is family oriented as well. Maybe that will meet your critieria.
