From what I understand it is supposed to eventually be about 2 miles west of Starfish Trelawny. Apparently the plan is to build "rooms over the sea" type accomodations. I wouldn't hold my breathe though, there was nothing more than a sign and a ditch this past December.

Does anyone know of any updates for this resort? The Excellence website indicates it is opening in 08 but that's about it.

If you do a little navigating on the website it takes you to a page that says:

Excellence Oyster Bay is coming soon! A gorgeous property on a peninsula near Montego Bay, Excellence Oyster Bay will open in 2009.

It is a very neat piece of land.

At the risk of opening a giant bag of worms again...the environmental assessment report is an interesting read.

today is Aug 4,2008 and i just got off the phone with an excellence rep. The resort's opening is now pushed back to 2009 but they are not sure if it will be early or late in the year at this point.

Have they even broken ground?

I was by there just a couple of months ago and it was deserted and nothing had been built.

I visited the promo office at the Excellence Playa Majueres when I stayed about 3 weeks ago and the agent said there was no hurry to complete and it would most likely be 2010. The groups focus seemed to be the Condos next to the Playa resort and the new resort next to that La Amada.

ANy new word on Oyster Bay? I was at EPM in March for the second time. They were almost elusive as to when this resort is even starting construction.

They have NOT started construction....every time I pass there it looks the same....just a burnt out, cleared patch of land...can't see a thing going on. Check out easton's post about environmental concerns....that coupled with the economy has probably brought things to a screeching halt. JMHO
