What looks like a nice resort? All I've seen are artisit's renderings. With all the accidents and constrcution delays, there is bound to be a tremendous amount of construction still going on in January and for months/years to come.

I have been told by hotel suppliers that they are going to stock Bahia for Dec 15 opening of 250 rooms. The hotel will probably not be fully completed until mid to end of 2007 (my opinion).

any new news on this hotel??

I am curious to know the status on the completion of the Gran Bahia Jamaica resort. How much of the hotel is complete? Will all of the amenities be up and running (restaurants, sports, tennis court, pools, etc...) by December 15?

it's highly unlikely it will be open by Dec 15 and if so....lots of construction still happening.

I just booked w/ cheap carribean for Jan 2 at the bahia thinking..wow what a deal..after reading the reviews(which I usually do prior to booking anything but neglected to this time ) I had to cancel, Cheap Carib was great and cancelled with no charges. They understood exactly what the issues were and dealt with them accordingly. I give them kudos for that!! I just could,t see going to somewhere not near completion, under construction and perhaps no where near what has been advertised and judging by reports (trip advisor etc) don't want to.

I forget the name of the person I spoke with. I had just booked the reservations about 1/2 hour before I called. He said he would remove the charge immediately and cancel. I would call the number on your reservation confirmation and just explain. They seem decent to deal with.

Check out Starfish...part of Super Clubs. I have only been there for a quick drink or two on the way to Grand Lido Braco (which is adults only)...but it is nice looking and we have been to Super Club resorts more than 10 times. In fact we leave on the 26 for another wonderful week there :}
