I am trying to decide between these 2 resorts, We are a small group of 10 adults, age 40-60 going to celebrate my 50th Birthday.

We want a great beach, nice pools and live Reggae music at night.

Would either of these fit the bill?

The last time I was in Jamaica, I stayed at the Sunset in Montego Bay, the property was nothing special, but they had a great House Band that played Reggae every night. Does the Sunset at the Palms have entertainment like that? I would really like to stay in Negril this time, it has been years.

Thanks

Recently stayed at the Tropical Bay. They had a Reggae Band but not every night. Reggae party on the beach was good. In my opinion the Tropical Bay is better located than the Riu Negril as the beach is cleaner and the sea clearer.......the sea is superb in fact!! 2 pools at both Riu resorts but the beach and sea at the Tropical Bay meant we didn't bother with the pool. Don't know about sunset at the palms.

Hi Marley.

I was there the last week in April. Evening entertainment only runs 8-10pm at SATP which included some local raggae and also the Jamaican cowboy who is awesome! The place is heavenly and uncrowded. The staff is awesome and I can't wait to go back with a group of people. I made a site that features soem of the evening entertainment. You can also take a taxi out in the evening for about $5.00 to 7 mile beach for additional evening entertainment. SATP has a cab right by the front gate.
