Scuba & snorkling at Sandals Royal Carribean Resort Jamaica

My wife and I are going to Sandals Royal Carribean Resort in May and was wondering what the snorkling and scuba diving is like. Is there any good snorkling at the resort and/or private island. From the pictures I have seen, it looks like there is a nice reef to snorkle off the private island.

Also, what is the diving like? When we were at Sandals Royal Carribean in Nassua, we had to take a 30 minute boat ride to get to the dive spot. Is the diving close by?

Thanks for you replies.

There are two reefs closeby SRC to snorkle at. One is out past the private island. Probably about a 10 minute boat ride from the mainland. You can snorkle around the private island, but I don't know how much there is to see. The reef out past the island is to far to swim to from the island. The other reef is east of the resort and probably about a 10-15 boat ride as well. On calm days there was alot to see. One snorkle trip we had a dolphin escorting the boat out to the reef. That was exciting. We saw many different kinds of fish and even had a moray eel peeking out at us. The coral and formations are pretty spectacular, but I've heard its taken a beating from all the storms the past two years. Still he enjoyed the snorkling at SRC. Never dove before, so can't help you there. Enjoy your trip!
