As you likely know there are countless great craftsmen in Jamaica. I have a long time personal friend who has been carving for over 30 years now. His name is Caleb ( puttymon ) but he is not exactly close-by Ochi though... about an hour west in Trelawny.

I could try and get you in touch with him if you'd like.

Wangy/Lesbert Lee and Gerry MacDonald, both

originally from Clarendon, do highly-original sculpture and custom work in cedar, gwango, breadnut and blue mahoe, amongst other woods,

with pieces made to fit a duffel bag/whole or in sections for easy carry-back. They work

now at a gallery called MounTambrin Retreat

near Whithorn en route Darliston, about 50 min. from MoBay on the B8 route and the work is not touristic giraffe canes nor Lions of Judah. It's a stretch from Ochie, tho. You

might also contact the Gallery of West Indian Art in MoBay (also online) to make some

connections.
