Top Spot For A Long Awaited Vacation! |
|
My husband and I have been through some really stressful situations with our business over the last couple of years. We now have a chance to get away at the end of June and really want to unwind. We are not able to make multiple trips to the different areas of Jamaica so want to find the spot with THE most relaxing atmosphere but also with entertainment. This may be a one and only trip for now so we want to make the most of our time. I am leaning towards either Negril or Ocho Rios but want to know the really NICEST and top notch place to stay for an all inclusive. Help, also I have never flown before so this is a biggie for me!

Yes, I would like a really nice beach. Something special. Also, a resort with a wide variety of meals to choose from. My husband and I are very laid back. This is a big deal for us to go here and I just want to make sure I really have some luxury without going too far overboard. Something upperclass but not TOO much so, if you know what I mean. I will probably have to get drunk just to get on the plane as I have never flown before! Report as inappropriate

Ok that's a good start. For a realllly nice beach : Grand Lido Negril, Couples Negril, Couples Swept Away, RIU Tropical Bay, Breezes Runaway Bay GLN is the most luxurious, followed by the Couples then RIU then Breezes. GLN has the best dining and most choices, however being that you say "not too upscale" you might be more suited to one of the Couples resorts which also have very good food with lots of choices. You might also look into Sunset at the Palms which is a bit more moderate and smaller, but an absolutely gorgeous property. I hope that helps a bit, keep the info coming. Blessings and respect. Steve I love that little photo by the way! Report as inappropriate

LittleMinerva, Try Moon Dance Villas in Negril. They are luxury villas which come with a personal chef, bartender and housekeeper. They have a lovely 1 bdrm honeymoon villa called the Lilac Mist. It's reasonably priced. Has it's own personal diningl gazebo and private jacuzzi. For a little extra per person per nite you can get their all inclusive meals package which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, all beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Their website is www.moondancevillas.com. The owner's name is Randy MacKay. Very nice gentlemen. I'm actually getting having my WeddingMoon there in April. tyd Report as inappropriate

Hello again! What is the procedure for meals at an al inclusive. I am seeing other posts that suggest you have to be in line or something by certains times or your out of luck. Do you need to still make reservations for breakfast, lunch and dinner at an all inclusive? ARe drinks unlimited throughout the day, and food as well? Or can you just go into the restaurants and bars and be seated? minerva Report as inappropriate

Hi again minerva, There are many variations to how a/i's work, but here's some info: I've never been anywhere where you had to reserve for breakfast, it is virtually always an all you can eat buffet. Same for lunch. At most a/i resorts ALL drinks (including soda, juice etc) are included all day (usually from about 7:00am to 2:00 a) Most of the better a/i's like the ones I listed earlier have food available at ALL times througout the day until about 11:00 pm at at least one or two of the food outlets. The Grand Lido's have several 24 hour bars that also serve hot food 24 hours, as well as a full menu 24 hour room service.. all included. Most a/i's you have to make reservations for the a la carte restaurants, but I've only really heard real "issues" on availability with some Sandals and RIU properties. Blessings and respect, I hope that helps some. Steve Report as inappropriate

This is for Steve, I checked out your suggestions. We always thought that Sunset at the Palms looked so secluded and tropical. But I have noticed on the "travel" sites, it often only gets 2 stars as opposed to the other larger places. Is it as nice in quality to the others only smaller? Also, I saw a post from a person who stayed at Riu resort and said the only thing they did not like was the "eyesore" Sandals beside it. Sandals resorts always look nice on the internet. Are they not so great though once you are there? Right now we are leaning towards your choices of the Couples Resorts in Negril. minerva Report as inappropriate

One nice thing about Moondance is that you have your own chef and bartender, and the chef will cook whatever you want whenever you want it. You get a bedroom like at a hotel but also a living room, dining room, etc etc...and Moondance is on an incredible part of Negril beach, has pool(s), included sailboats and kayaks, a tour desk, etc. It costs a bit more than most AI resorts I think, and there won't be any scheduled activities, and there won't be a lot of other tourists to meet and mingle with (though you can certainly meet some on the beach or out and about). But for privacy and luxury I don't think you can top a private villa and Moondance offers more than that, it's on the negril beach so you can easily get out and about if you want to. No on-site entertainment but plenty nearby. Report as inappropriate
