Planning on going to one of these resorts. Sandy Bay is slightly more exspensive, does anyone have any insight on either of thesr resorts? They both have some negative reviews. They appear to be a fabulous places for families, and actually cheaper then the resort I looked into in Mexico. Any info would be great.

I prefer Sandy Bay - I think they are even redoing the resort very soon. Almost every room has a great ocean view without paying extra for it-

It was smaller then the Beaches Negril , next door, but as long as your more of an ocean person and not a pool nut you should be happy. They have 2 small pools , smaller one is usually empty. The beach is just steps away from your door though . Plus with negril area you can take te shuttle to the other resort and use all their facilties and I'm sure you've seen Beaches Negril is much more expensive. I always find the user photos by hotel descriptions the most helpful is making my decisions rather then the glossed up brochures.

HI. I have only been to beaches negril and LOVED every bit of the place. I saw Beaches sandy bay , it looked nice but smaller. I dont know how old your children are but the water park at BN is great. My kids ran back from that to the lazy river to the beach all day long. Have you looked into going there? I did asked the butler there about Boscobel and he said he didnt like it at all. Said that you have to go up really high steps to get up to the place and to anywhere in the place. Also you are confined to the SMALL beach there. At Beaches Negril you can walk forever and even sandy bay you can walk away from the resort for a little ways. We cant wait to go back. Keri Our children are 4,7 and 10years old

Agreed you get two resorts for the price of one- well 3 really cause you can set the kids up in camp or with a babysitter and also go to Sandals Negril which is right next door to sandy bay.

If trying to save cash Beaches Negril will cost you alot more , and more likely to have a room away from the beach is going standard. I liked them both - the zoo stories scare me away from Boscabe;

We are going to Sandy Bay in 11 days. It re-opened yesterday after a month of refurbishments.

We chose Sandy Bay because it is smaller and easier to navigate, its right on the beach and we get free use of Beaches negril.

Based on the reviews I wouldnt go to Boscobel, mainly because of the small beach, horrible zoo and exteded drive time.

We booked directly through Beaches and got a great deal of 875pp US for 5 nights. Beaches negril was much more expensive.

Just to let you know that Beaches Sandy Bay isnt right next door to Negril. You have to take a cab ( 5 minutes), or walk about 1/2 hour. You also cant walk right on the beach to get there. You have to walk a little way off the beach, up by the road, to get there. Just thought you would want to know that just in case. Keri

Also the rooms are close to the beach. Not as close but we had the 2 bedroom beachfront suite and it took about 100 yards of a walk straight out from the room to get there. Only took a minute or so. Keri

Greetings,

Between only those two resorts, I would go with Sandy Bay over Boscobel. Although Boscobel does have "more" for the kids, there are lots of advantages to Sandy Bay, like a much shorter drive from the Airport and a MUCH nicer beach.

The facilities at BN are an advantage as well, but do keep in mind that these resorts are not "right" next to each other as you may be imagining.

Your best value for a family resort with tons of "kid friendly" facilities in Jamaica is Starfish Trelawny. The S/B resorts seem to be slashing prices, which if history dictates might indicate more closures and more massive relocations of guests.

Blessings and respect to you.

Steve
