Jamaica Forum: Looking for a BIG room right on the beach

Looking for a BIG room right on the beach

I'm trying to plan my very first Caribbean trip + wedding for June, 2005. My claustrophobic fiancee gets very uncomfortable in your typical 200 sqft hotel room, so I'm looking for a family-friendly Caribbean resort with BIG rooms.

I'm also looking for a resort with rooms that are relatively close to the water - at least close enough that you can hear the waves crashing along the beach while lying in bed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hey Zoofer...you can always check out hotels or vacation spots on www.visitjamaica.com or check out the websites for the main family hotel chains, which are Beaches (www.beaches.com), Franklyn D. Pebbles (fdrholidays.com), Starfish Trelawny Beach Hotel (www.superclubs.com). The more pricey but awfully comfortable hotels are Ritz-Carlton and Half Moon (www.halfmoon.com.jm); Wyndham Rosehall is also good. I've gotten good responses for these hotels, so check them out and let me know what you think! All the best...

Personally, Zoofer, I would rule out FDR. They don't have much of a beach, however some of the rooms practically hang out almost over the beach. Starfish, which is almost next door has a great beach. To get a bigger room at Starfish you would have to upgrade to a cottage room. Beaches, I'm sure is also nice, but also pricier.
