Hi, I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with this property and can share any information on it. I'm thinking of staying here and am wondering how it has progressed since last year when there was some damage from Hurricane Ivan.

Any information will be much appreciated. Thanks!

We had it booked but Ivan took it away. I understand it's been rebuilt but as the hurricane was only a week before our trip we had to rebook (to the pposite end of the island, in fact).

You might ask on treasurebeach.net's forum.

Thanks Ohliz. It sounds like everything is ok except for the one villa damaged by Ivan, so I think we're going to spend some time. I'm looking forward to it as I've yet to explore that area. Any suggestions for places to see during a short stay of the southcoast are much appreciated. Is YS Falls close by?

Hello again MsL,

So happy to hear that you will be on the south coast.

Plan to nothing and just do nothing except relax.

You are going on holiday in Treasure BEACH.

A wonderful eclectic place right on the beach area.

From here you can take long walks in either direction.

Along the beach or on any road path that you find.

TB is the best place to be with the person you love.

There is nothing to do except relax and enjoy all the natural beauty around you.

The long walks will help you to meet the really

Incedibly warm, hospitable and friendly people from The rural country parts of the island.

Please try and get to know this tranquil area so

that you will understand why it is called a Treasure.

You will be far away from the glitz and noise of the North Coast tourist traps.

Read all about it and check the photographs.

You know LibbyT from jamaicans.com

Stop in and say hello. She runs this historic complex. Imagine that you see a young boy climbing all the trees or sitting by the main gate waving to all the people and cars that went past.

That was me having a ball as there was nothing else to do.

Take a 30 minute drive up into the Malvern Mountains and stop to visit Monroe College. From there you will see the most incredible panoramic views of the south coast.

All during the trip you will have the chance to stop at any small business place or rum bar. Talk to the citizens and you will have a ball.

These are the country people who maybe get to meet a tourist once or twice a year.

They are so genuine and full of fun and good humour. No matter how poor they are!

I wish you a wonderfull holiday.

JohnnyB, "No matter how poor they are!" IMHO Jamaican's are not poor at all. The are not financially well off agreed but they are so much richer than us in so many ways that are more important. Attitude for one!

Yes I know you are from JA. I am not and appreciate their wealth in their hearts and souls. ONE LOVE

DEFINITELY get a boat (if you like ocean boat rides) either to Black River or Pelican Bar or Little Ochi or Guts River or Font Hill, if you're lucky you'll see dolphins! That's my very favorite TB thing to do, by far, and not really offered in other parts of the island....these are not booze cruises with a ton of drunk people, it's you and your fisherman/guide doing whatever you want (with a cooler if you choose) ;)

It's fun to go fast......

I have always hired Dennis Abrahams (his # is in the Honest Contacts thread) but I'm sure SW will have someone they recommend as well.

Thanks for the links and suggestions. Love to see dolphins. Where we go on the gulfcoast of Florida there are lots of them, but I've yet to see one in Jamaica. Sounds fun!

Hello, I am here. Just back from a nice, long visit to Jamaica. (where by the way the weather was WAY more comfortable than here in New England!).

I visited Sparkling Waters in the winter of 2006 and loved it. It was my first time visiting the south coast and I very much enjoyed. Somehow, it reminded me of the outer Cape in Mass.(Cape Cod) with warm Jamaican hospitality. The villas and property were well-maintained and inviting. The pool was awesome! I layed on a floaty and looked out at the sea from the infinity pool for hours.

The only thing I did not absolutely love about the property was the beach, and it wasn't bad. It just wasn't the lovely white sand stretches you find on some other beaches in Jamaica. (also, for some reason I could not get the fear of potential visiting crocodiles out of my head!)

Nice place to visit and I'd definitely return.
