thanks for getting back to me about riu tropical bay resort anymore info would be great thanks alot
I'm scheduled for Riu on 9/27. Here is the reply from the hotel. Hope this helps.
Greetings from Jamaica!
Although we went through a force five hurricane, I am pleased to inform you that no member of staff suffered any injury.
The hotel suffered minor structural damage, but sustained considerable damage to the beach and grounds.
A lot of hard work is ongoing, and due to this, we are operating business as usual from Saturday, 18th September.
Regards

thank you for getting back to me riu tropical bay resort have you ever been to this resort before let me know how you like it or any info you can give to me thanl you and have a great day lippy
This is a Spanish owned Resort Hotel chain that has many others worldwide including Mexico, Cuba, DomRep, and off course so many in Spain.
I was at the hotel in May of this year. Not as a guest. Inspected the premises and met with the very capable new General Manager of the Newest Riu. This is built right beside the first one that proved so successful. A massive huge hotel with a lot of grounds for you to wander through.
Everything runs like clock work. If you want to do anything outside of the hotel there are taxis, vans, buses all run by a company called JCAL. Their drivers all wear uniforms and have full insurance coverage. Polite, courtious and off course with the Jamaican personality. All charm and full of fun.
For value for money you cannot beat their prices for what they give you.
This is why so many young Spanish couples have spent their honeymoon there.
I have interviewed so many after their return. Main regret was not having spent more time there. They did not realize that JA was so much fun. The opinion from all couples was that the rooms, food and service was outstanding. What always struck me during the interviews was to see the gleam in their eyes when they talked about their trip to Jamaica. My questions always sparked a smile out of them. Then they would look at each other lost in the memories of the trip.
A few couples even remember the names of the drivers who took them on outings.
They had enjoyed themselves so much.
I sincerely hope that these remarks will help to put you in an open frame of mind.
After Ivan, the beach is not going to be the same, but the people will welcome you with open arms. You are their livelyhood. You help them to take home a paycheck.
After such an unhappy experience with the hurricane, the only possibility of them ever treating you in an unusual way is if your husbands name is IVAN.
Then they will have fun teasing you. I wish you a happy holiday.
Dear Lippy, With this update, I just know that you will be the happiest bride to be this
weekend........RIGHT!!!
