Country - I just read a review of Jake's at Treasure Beach, and they mentioned going to this Pelican Bar. There's a thumbnail photo on her review too...check that out, and maybe you can find her on the forum to ask more questions. She used a driver from Jake's resort.

Most people who go from Pelican go by boat from Treasure Beach, but it is also possible to get one from Black River.

Just got back from Ja on 7/3/2005. We stayed near MoBay, but 16 of us went over to Black River and the Pelican Bar. Pelican Bar was the adventure highlight of our trip. Wicked!

While teenagers MAY appreciate the adventure, I wouldn't reccommend it for younger kids. There is nothing to do once you get there. The place is a one room hut with an ice chest and a radio. If you want food, it has to be brought over from shore.

However, if the kids can amuse themselves or are conversationalists they will have quite a tale to tell when they get back!

Hi, thanks for the info. We have a tour planned to go to YS/PElican Bar in sept. Calolyn Barrett suggested it for us and the kids. She said they fry fish right there and the kids can snorkel and play. Maybe we will just stoipo there for a little bit of time. the water looks so beautiful. IS there anything you would suggest in the area for the kids while we are on that tour? thanks Keri

BleacherDave - you said you and some friends went to Pelican Bar...did you hire a guide with a boat to take you there? How did you arrange? I understand you can only access the Pelican Bar by boat...do you have a contact?
