With the recent changes on Airline, you can't bring liquor onboard. Can we bring rum back from Jamaica to the US? Did anyone try? Any problems?

This was a big question for me as well. We just returned last week and if you purchase the rum during your stay, you have to pack it in your checked luggage. If you purchase it at the duty free at the airport, you may carry it on (you're beyond the check point by then). The prices at the duty free are pretty good. However, if you have a connecting flight like we did, you will have to pack it when you reclaim your luggage and before you go through the security check point to get to your connection. I placed the boxed rum in the middle of the clothing and beach towels and it made it home safe and sound. If you fly non-stop, then no worries at all. Carry-on.
Luki 13,
Thanks for the info, we have a direct flight!!!YahooooO!!!!
yes and same is true for any other liquid/paste items ie hot sauce, jerk sauce etc...
we too packed in suitcase for connecting flight and no problems with breakage
Yes, AJ flight 75...you are allowed 2 bottles.
Have fun!
2 bottle per person? Before I ask the next questions, I just want everyone to know...I am a responsable parent!!!. Seriously. Here it goes... since we are a family of four (2 kids). does the kids allow 2 bottles too? We have too many friends requesting rum from Jamaica.
oooo.... be careful with that one mon, people here have been known to question parenting skills.
That said, rum cream doesn't count the same as rum, I think you can bring back a larger quantity of that.
Just had some banana rum cream as a good night treat, yum!
