Transporation from MBJ to FDR resort

Hi all,

I just booked our vacation for June to FDR resort (not Pebbles). This is our first trip to Jamaica!

Anyway, I was hoping to get some feedback on airport transporation. Based on comments I've read, I was planning to hire private transportation from MBJ airport to the resort. I'd prefer not to wait on a shuttle, don't really want to have to go to "rest stops", and will have one and four year old children. What - if anything - is the car seat situation for the little ones on these shuttles? I might utilize the shuttle for the return trip to the airport.

Lee's Taxi quoted me $85 from the airport and said they would provide car seats. Any experiences or comments regarding Lee's?

Thanks all. I'm sure I'll have more questions as the date approaches.

Having been to FDR 6 times - I did not find the shuttle too bad - and it's included in the fees .

Usually you can tell the driver to skip the rest stop if you are all in unison on the bus- we have done that several times

$170 plus tip is money better spent in my opinion.

Good Luck

After traveling several hours with two small children, something that gets to the resort quickly and comfortably is money well spent.

However, my biggest concern is really the car seats. Do you know if they are provided on the shuttle?

There are no car seats as far as I have seen. We always put my son on our lap. He was 1 year when we started going. We had 5 hour flights

Good luck

There were no car seats available in the free shuttle from MBJ to FDR. We had to wait at least 30 minutes after boarding the shuttle before we left and the people on the shuttle before us waited even longer and were going to FDR Resort which is quite a bit further than FDR Pebbles (for them it turned out to be a over 2 1/2 hours of waiting/riding in the shuttle before getting to FDR Resort). If money is not a major concern you might go ahead with the taxi service, at least on the way to the resort. On the return trip to the airport there's not so much waiting around since they let you know what time the shuttle will be leaving and you can plan accordingly. But still no car seats. However I was comfortable with having my 2 yr old on my lap, and I saw one couple with an 11 mo. old and 3 yr old riding the shuttle.

Have fun, you'll love having the vacation nanny!

We take the shuttle, and sometimes it is a pain, sometimes it is not. We are a large group (8) so a taxi is kind of out. We have fun on the shuttle, though. We know that when we get to Pebbles we are more than half way there! It is really nice to take the shuttle back to the airport with our FDR Friends- extends the vacation a little!

That being said, lots of people take private taxis to and from the resort. I have been told that it gets to be less of a time saver now, though, because the road has gotten a bit better. It does, however, have the potential to be a hassle saver.

If you are concerned about the car seats, I think the only way to make 100% sure that you get them is to bring them from home. It is kind of a drag, but worth it if you don't feel safe without them. We brought the first year. One year we brought for our 4 week old infant, but the rest of the kids have gotten older.

Whatever choices you make, have fun!!! FDR is the greatest place. You will have a really relaxing vacation. I am jealous! Even though we just got back and have planned next years trip, it seems like so far away!

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
