 Coyaba Beach Club

just come back from the Coyaba Beach Club and was very disapointed. At first glance it was paradise, staff lovely and place very clean but lacks any fun. It is meant to be on the best beach in grenada but the worst beach in Antigua is better. If you are 60 or older you will enjoy the hotel but below that age I am not sure. It is all about personal taste as we all know. The staff and Management cannot be faulted and the food is delicious so you might wonder whats the problem...NO SOUL NO FUN..AS i SAY PERSONAL TASTE...if you are going make sure that the guys take proper shoes as the dress code is strict for dinner...anyways Antigua next time again

Whirlie, if you have such negative feelings about the Grand Anse beach it would have been nicer to describe your dislikes a little bit more. Readers may wanted to know.

Hi, I notice you say that the beach is not good, Why is that? Is it white sand and as wide as the picture make it seam?

Also when you say that it is more for older people, Is there any music ect on in the evenings or any shows ect? Also is there many things, activities to do there? I look forward to your reply.

whatever you do, if you go to grenada, do not fly air jamaica. the chances of getting your luggage are slim and none, and they will do absolutely nothing for you. they won't even have anyone at the airport to help you fill out the forms for your lost luggage. you are on your own...

best to carry everything you will need on with you or you are in for trouble.

Grenada is a quiet island, the resorts aren't like the AI's in Mexico or Dominican Republic which have stage shows at night and activities poolside during the day. Don't know if this is what Whirlie was missing!

I went to Grenada knowing this and looking forward to the peace and quiet. Haven't been to Antigua, but some people we met on Grand Anse Beach say that Antigua doesn't compare! I personally found Grand Anse lovely - beautiful white sand, clear warm waters. It is exactly like the pictures.

Maybe Whirlie can be more specific?

I live in Grenada and I have also lived in Antigua. Whilst Antigua undoubtedly has beautiful beaches and indeed more beaches than Grenada I would certainly challenge Whirlie's assertion that Grand Anse is no better than the worst beach in Antigua. I would put Grand Anse up there with the top 25% of the beaches in Antigua. What I would say to Whirlie is that once you were on the beach in Grenada did you take the time to look at the scenery which provides the back drop to the beach. Did you take the time to go around our island and see the mountains, the rain forest, the water falls, the cocoa and nutmeg plantations, the beautiful gardens, the capital of St. Georges.with its distinctive Georgian architecture. Did you take the ferry to our sister islands of Carriacou and Petit Martinique and experience the barefoot charms of some of the gems of the Grenadine islands. Did you go to the fishing village of Gouyave for their Friday night street festival where you can buy the best fish dishes you have ever tasted from roadside stalls as you listen to the music of local entertainers. You did at least notice that the staff were lovely and that is indicative of the warm and friendly reception that Grenadians give to all their visitors.

Whirlie take out your score card and tick of all of these and then tell me again how Grenada compares to Antigua.

All I can say, after reading wcl17's post, is that you just made me more excited than I allready am about coming to visit your country. Not only will I be stayin in Grenada, but will be fortunate to visit many of the other islands by going on a 7 day Windjammer trip through the Grenadines. Thanks wcl!!

Although not quite 60, I like nice hotels/food etc, sometimes we go to Florida - water theme parks etc (and I do go down most of the slides) - and sometimes to the Caribbean for more relaxing times, so age does not come into anything where holidays are concerned!!
