Hello - the rainy season starts in June and runs until the end of December but it doesn't necessarily mean it will rain continually, just that there will be more rain. My wife and I have just returned from 11 nights out there and only had 1 day of full cloud/rain, with the rest of the rain falling at night/early morning That said, the beginning of December was reportedly very wet for days at a time Rain rarely affects the temperature, which is constant around 29c/85f in the day. Average temperatures and rainfall can be found on sites such as weather.com. Note, in the middle of the rainy season you are more likely to experience high winds.

Most hotels in Grenada are on the Caribbean side (as opposed to Atlantic side) and therefore, the waters are relatively calm but again this is weather dependant.

We stayed at the Coyaba Beach resort (I will be posting a review soon) which is situated on the middle of Grand Anse Beach.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for advice. Think we will look at going in Feb/Mar 2008

Have been looking at hotels Grenadian Rex Resort and flamboyant as they seem to be on the best beach with relatively calm waters. Has anyone had their wedding at one of these hotels?

Hi Steve,

We were married in Grenada, beautiful place & people.

For the wedding part I suggest a wedding planner

www.grenadawedding.com comes highly receommended and

organised every aspect of our wedding. You dont necessarily have to get married at the hotel you stay in, which is the great part about a wedding planner they are totally independant so are finding the best for you & your guests if you have any attending. She gave us detailed answers to everyone of our questions, and suggested lots of things we had not even thought of, as she is on island has lots of inside contacts in all areas of hospitality. She is very good at her job. Some of the best locations for a wedding have no hotel, maybe a restaurant, and not only that you can choose a yacht, waterfall or plantation house, even a private beach front villa if you like, as the wedding planner arranged all of our transportation & every detail, so that made it special, because the first contact we had before we found her, was a receptionist of a hotel, and if she was not on shift she did not answer our e-mails. We choose a beach wedding - but there are lots of possibilities. With regards to time of year, we went in May to co-incide with my now husbands birthday, the weather was glorious, and we had a lovely breeze, which locals said was common for May, as during April ( Easter) when the wind is stronger - they have kite flying contests & sailing regattas too.

I understand August is Carnival time, so that could be fun if you have guests attending. The wedding planner told us her busiest time was September to February when couples want to get out

of the Uk winter.

We did a pre & post wedding accomodation almost to feel like we were having a separate honeymoon with out moving island!!...

so we Stayed at the Calabash Hotel before hand, and True Blue Bay Resort after, we choose the first slightly more luxurious beach front accomoation as we wanted to just hang out upon arrival, liase with our wedding planner, eat out, sleep late, and get some sun before our big day. And after the wedding we wanted somewhere still beautiful but more relaxed with chooses of onsite dining, which True BLue has 2 lovely restaurant- because during the honeymoon part of our vacation we got a car and explored everywhere in the day, and enjoyed the hotel every evening - we were so much more relaxed after our wedding. In general all arrangements were stress-free, but even tropical brides get a few nerves I guess.

A beautiful beach is never far away on the island - we often went

to Morne Rouge as we like its characteristics, calm being one of them, we visited often although our first hotel was right on Prickly Bay Beach. Grand Anse beach & Point Salines beach are lovely too but bigger so therefore sometimes busier.

You will love Grenada.

Best Wishes

Carolyn M Duncan

Hi and congratulations on your up coming wedding - we too were married in Grenada in April and also used 'grenada wedding' as our wedding planner. The lady was fantastic and went above and beyond the call of duty and made it so easy for us to just relax and enjoy our time on the island. We stayed at True Blue and had our wedding there - the hardest thing was trying to decide what location to hold the wedding - we decided to use a restuarant rather than the hotel as we wanted a different location to where we were staying. Our ceremony was at the Beachouse right n the waters edge - beautiful. I would highly recomment the island and grenada wedding as planners. We have returned several time since our wedding and hope to continue doing so for many years to come.

After 33 years of misery my advice is DON'T get married !!!

If you must, any hotel on Grand Anse beach should be OK, and it certainly will suit a less than strong swimmer.
