we are travelling to Grenada in January. What's the best way to take money? We are going room only so will be spending in the local bars & restaurants. Can you use US dollars or only ECD?

Our experience was that US or EC were the norm. We only needed cash for taxi's and vendors, the rest was charged. Since the exchange rate was around $1US = $2.37EC it was fairly easy to work it out either direction when paying for services. Most of the quotes you get will be made in EC but to bring that much EC cash would be wallet busting.

We usually take a small amount of ECD to start with for when we arrive then use our debit card at the ATM machines. The rate is quite good at moment, we found Marks and Spencer had the best rate of exchange, compared to banks and First Choice

The Exchange rate for sterling is quite good in Grenada. Novia Scotia Bank offer exchange rates far better than those quoted in the UK ,plus ,you don't pay any commission! : )

You can use US$ in bars and restaurants but you will receive any change in EC.

The exchange rate is $2.67EC to $1US at banks. Restaurants

and hotels usually give between $2.60 and $2.65 EC/$1US.

$3.75US = $10EC

$15.00US=$40EC
