Honestly, I LOVED the adult atmosphere. I am 44 and love kids, but for a romantic getaway you can't beat this. Wearing a bikini for the first time in 20+ years was totally liberating and fun. The bubble baths with rose petals was also a wonderful surprise!

I think I went there when you were there..

I went to visit on the 28th (Monday) to talk to the wedding coordinator.

That's the one thing I really loved.. totally different vibe with no kids around.. so quiet and romantic.. can't wait to go back and stay there the full week.

What restaurants did you like the most? Did you stay at the Club Excellence??

No, we stayed in room 3108. It was the very last building on the opposite side of the Excellence Club. This room had a view of the ocean (even from our bed) and was perfect. We could see the armed guard outside everynight patrolling right by our room - since our room bordered the end of the property. We also faced the woods and could see wild burros, rabbits, chickens and peacocks. If you could ask for a room, this a great one and is considered a "garden view". Room 3110 would also be very nice. I wish I would have known you were going to be there, we would have met your for a dirty monkey!

Our favorite restaurant was the seaside grill. My husband would order two steaks at a time! We never got into the Bordeaux, wait many times over an hour. Mexican also a favorite. The salmon there just melts in your mouth.

I think the soups were my favorite food there - seriously! Many people probably don't eat them because it is hot out or whatever, but every one that I had, from the cream of pumpkin to the best at the Mexican the chicken and lime soup were a total treat.

EMTLADY:

My husband and I and another couple are going to Secrets January 9th-16th. I have a few questions:

Did you cash any traveler's cheques at the front desk? If so, did you receive American dollars or Dominican Pesos?

Did you gamble in the casino? Did anyone win?

What was on the room service menu?

I cannot wait to read your review...thanks for providing us future "Secrets Lovers" with wonderful information.

We did not cash travelers checks, but USD is not a problem to get there. I am sure that you will be fine. We brought cash only and just put it in our safe.

We did a little gambling at the very small casino. Did not win anything and did not really see anyone winning except at the roulette table.

The room service menu:

Breakfast:

Croissants and marmalade

Continental breakfast which includes fruit and various breads and rolls.

Scrambled eggs and hashbrowns

various juices, coffee and tea

Lunch:

Chicken and basil sandwich

soup

Tuna cake with caviar on the top (husband loved it)

there were other lunch items, I can't remember

We did not order dinner in - sorry, but there was always 24 hour pizza and awesome hors de ovres plate with deep fried onion rings, cheese, etc...

Husband says his favorite part of the trip was the Helicopter ride from the airport - it was spectacular and worth every penny ($288.00). The bus ride is long and they stop at every resort before Secrets, Secrets is literally last on the road. We were so happy we did this and got to see the other resorts from the air as well as the Marineaqarium and the Dolphin place. If we wanted to see something up close, the pilot banked the helicopter and went low to show us. I wanted to see the Iberostar from the air and he circled it twice. What a blast!

Were the restaurants that hard to get into like Bordeaux. We usually get the beeper and just have a drink and a table opens up. What time were you dining. We are going Jan 13 for 10 days. Our 3rd. time.

Gamer,

That was the only one that had a wait. The resort was not at capacity when we were there though too. The wait one night was 1-1/2 hours and we were hungry so ate someplace else and that was fine. Every other time, we just walked right in to the other restaurants. We usually ate around 6:30-8ish, got busier closer to 8.
