sunscape beach is gonna be a blast

Whats up everybody,

I just booked a trip to sunscape the beach resort a week ago. I personally think that everyone is paranoid. This is a 5 star resort. Sunscape beach will be borrowing employees that know what they are doing from other sunscape hotels (like the grand). If this hotel was in bad shape (like everyone is saying it is), they would definately post pone opening it. Remeber, this hotel is brand new, the general manager will want to maintain good ratings, so they will probably be treating their guests really well and throwing in "extras".

Besides this, I want to know if there are many people staying at this resort that like to party like crazy.

I agree whole hearted with you .....I can't wait to get there!! We are 5 (me, the wife, 2 teenage daughters 15, 18, and my mother) and are all so very excited that my kids can tell me how many hours till punta cana, but have to look at the calender to tell me how many days till christmas.....now that is excitement. It will be my third trip to the DR and even at 50% "the Beach" will be 100 times better than being in Ohio in January working on telephone poles and shoveling snow.....Bring on the sun, sand, and warm!!!

Just to let everyone know my travel agent got back last Saturday. She was booked at Sunscape Beach but got bumped to Secrets. As of December 1st they will know longer be bumping anyone. She took a tour of Sunscape (it is a 10 minute cab ride from Secrets) She brought back some pictures for me and I will describe them for you.

The hotel lobby is complete and gorgeous.

Everything is set up where they have their nightly shows. Theatre style seating plus a bar along the side

All bars are open. Have a picture of what looks like the lobby bar. Very nice.

A restaurant with white table cloths and rattan chairs which I assume is the World Cafe Restaurant that is opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Another restaurant is opened down by the beach. Is sheltered and looks great

Pool is completely up and running with chairs all along the pool.

Beach looks perfect. Blue water and some surf

She said when she was there that about 100 people were working on the spa.

I am having no worries about going even if all restaurants arent open.

These pictures really put my mind at ease

By the way we are going January 1st.

See you there!!!!

Hello to all my fellow EXCITED Suncape travelers...

Nice to finally find a group of people who are as excited and energetic about their trip to D.R., specifically Sunscape, as I am. I am tired of all the speculation and negative comments.

I am going down on the 19th of Dec and I have absolutely no worries about the resort or malaria.(I did visit a Travel Medicine Clinic and will start taking the drugs on Sunday. Im optimistic, not foolish.)

I know, from past experience, that the people I am traveling with and myself can have a great time in a cardboard box, so I am not concerned about having a great time at Sunscape

If its warm, the bars are open, and the food is edible, then we will have a great timeeven better when we meet like-minded people looking to relax and enjoy

Not to sound saintly, but I have read everything from legal action to guest uprisings against or at Sunscape.I am amazed how short sighted people can be.particularly during the holiday seasonHow quickly they forget how little they have paid for the luxury of traveling to a developing country to exploit the local poverty to our own benefit. You couldnt spend a week in any major city in North America and enjoy the same amenities as Sunscape for three times the price

If people are that worried about their vacation, then they should have hopped off the wallet earlier and booked at a luxury 5 star in the Bahamas

Stop the whining and lets all get excited about the great time we are going to have

See you at the swim up; Ill be the guy, surrounded by great people, having a fantastic time. Who else wants to join us at the swim up???

Happy Travels

Sandy Feet

Jakemeister or whoever you are you make me sick. How can you post conflicting reports so close together. You are the one to be ashamed, not people talking optimistically about their trip. Why are you spending so much time on a computer when you are "supposedly" in beutiful DR anyways? Why did you sign up for a relatively inexpensive vacation, if you are so concerned about a "five star"? You should have coughed up big bucks and gone to hawaii or something.

I will be down there Dec 29 with my brother and parents (we are 25 & 27) and we know it will be a blast. I look forward to meeting all positive, up-beat people, and not anybody who is negative or miserable. How can a brand new resort, sun, surf, pools, and booze be bad.

Hi Everyone,

I am also going to Sunscape The Beach Dec 26th till Jan 3rd with my boyfriend (we are 24 and 27). So far it seems lkike the atmosphere will be good cause everyone seems to e young and there to party. I booked with SellOffVacations.com and it cost me $2199 before taxes, so I think I paid a pretty penny more then all of you for this trip. I have called the resort the travel agent and everyone else under the sun to see if the resort would be finished by the time of my arrival and they all assured me it would be up and running. As for Malaria, I was very concerned at the begining when I first heard about it, but the more I read into it, the more I realize there is nothing to worry about. So long as you stay on the resort and don't go trecking through the bush we should all go and have a great time with no Malaria. Hope this helps. Please resond if you have anything to add.

I agree with all of you! I will be going down Dec 26 to Jan 2 from Toronto (snow) with my wife and two kids 6 and 9. A lady by the name Sandy Taco posted some great pictures of Sunscape Beach resort pool and buildings plus the beach. It looks great!!!

If anyone is goinig with kids close in age to mine please drop me a line. While they play in the pool together we can be at the swim up with all of you "fun" people!

Bring on the sun!

PS, Sandy Balls, I am originally from WIndsor. Where do you live?

I forgot to mention in my last forum that my rep said that she saw the movie theatre on the beach with a bar right next to it. Also she sent a picture where they have their nightly entertainment, it is set up theatre style with a bar along the side of it

She also sent me a brochure and in it they said they have a casino, but I have a feeling they will send you to Secrets. I have never heard of Sunscape Beach having a casino. And last but not least in the brochure they say that topless sunbathing is prohibited. Rather different for the Dominican.
