hey we have been laughing so hard reading about the bubba kegs. go read some if you want some humor. AND dont forget the bubba keg. Have you heard anything about how to get to the resort? kinda concerned about the amount of cash I have to take since the atms plays in peso. And then do you really have to pay the exit fare of 20 bucks, and is it or not a scam.lol. glad i found this forum? We are in our 30/40's and reday to GO.

When are you going and where are you staying? Yes, you do have to pay the departure tax of $20.00, but it may or may not be included in your package price. Might want to check with your travel agent. I'm travelling wiht Apple Vacations and it's included in my package price. You also have to pay $10.00 per person for a tourist card when you arrive. Have a great time there!

Terry where are you staying? We're leaving tomorrow early morning. OMG I'm so excited. You're taking more cash than us. I figure I can pay for excursions with a credit card (that is how we paid that last time we went). Of course, I have a lot of one dollar bills for tipping and shopping at the local vendors. I'm not good at making sure that I get the right change in conversions, so I'm just taking small bills. HAVE A GREAT TIME! and use the bubba keg as much as possible, I plan to.

You definately need $10 per person to get in to the country but the $20 is usually included in the air fare for Americans. Check.

As far as the transportation, if its not inluded it will cost $30 to $40 each way depending on the hotel. Tipping is a personal thing, but I spent about $125 in 6 days. Go to your bank and take lots of singles. As far as excursions, they run about $85 per person. Figure how how many you would like to take.

If you're going to an all-inclusive, you probably wouldn't need more than lets say $500 to $600 per week to pay for all this.

The $20 departure tax is not a scam and you will pay it. The question is when will you pay for it.

Check your airplane ticket fare or vacation package because for US travelers its usually included and prepaid. For many other traverlers outside the US it is paid upon departure from the DR.

LoveTo Go...we're booked at the grand oasis thru apple vacations. my question is if you get asked at the airport for the $20 departure fee how do you prove it's paid? you don't get airline "tickets" with apple just the "vouchers". I don't see where it says taxes and fees paid. does the airport just know that the fee is included in apple vacations? I do know we pay the $10 entrance in cash upon arrival. thanks... 20 more sleeps for us. have a great time!!!!

Last time we went, thru Apple then also, we flew on USA3000. Everyone on the flight already paid the fee on the USA300 ticket. I believe it's the flight/ airline crew that knew this. We weren't even questioned about it. It's the same this time, USA3000 so I don't anticipate any problems. I believe that most US travelers pre-pay it. Although, I have read other posts where people were questioned and had to tell them it was paid (I guess someone tried to scam them).
