not been with Thomson for many years and have been impressed with the brochure blurb. Those of you who have been with them recently got any feedback re legroom, entertainment, food, flight times etc?

any handy tips greatfully received.

thanks in advance

Martin

Hi I flew with them in May this year and it was one of the best longhaul flights I have done so far. The planes are so much better now. I was in economy class and had a lot more legroom and the seats were a lot bigger and more comfy that I thought they'd put me in first class by mistake. They now have backseat tv's so you can watch what you want and you can upgrade in economy for £5 and get more channels but I thought what they showed was enough without having to upgrade. The food seemed a bit better than your average plane meal but I can't really comment as I'm not a lover of inflight meals. Never had a problem with flight times and I've flown with them quite a few times on long and short haul.

I'm not sure abount the premium class section but to be honest I think the economy class is all you need if not better.

I would highly recommend them.

I've booked to fly with them in September and I'm actually looking forward to my flight which I dont normally enjoy being stuck on a plane for 9 hours.

The legroom is excellent, the time flew by, even when our TV's didnt work all the way there.

thanks to both of you. Not too happy to hear about problems with the entertainment system but legroom etc sounds good.

cheers

I flew with thomson on the 11th June & it was far better than we expected. Our TV worked fine. We did use the upgrade TV (£5) on the way home.

We had plenty of leg room!

Thomson provided some earphones on the way out and a sleep pack on the way home

Food, uck. So much for that new chief. I could not eat my nut free meal on the way out. My partners was slightly better. On way home it was the reverse.

Food wise, I would book the meals again even though they were not great. It broke up the flight and some people on our flight had problems as the sandwiches had all been sold. Least you get some drinks and they is normally something bearable to eat. breakfast was some cereal so dont expect a hot breakfast!

I flew to punta cana, so i cant say about flight times.

We are off to puerto plata on 20th Aug and cant wait

Hope u have a great holiday.

thanks CJEB

too bad the food was not so good. Think we might take a few sandwiches just in case.

Sorry to be a pain with more questions but what was the situation with beer, wine etc? Did you have to pay extra for them? We usually fly Virgin and ALL drinks are freeso it will come a quite a shock to my wife and sister in law if they have to pay for their "just being sociable Dear" afternoon drinks :-)

thanks again

Martin

Tea or coffee are free with your meals but if your in standard class you have to pay for any extra drinks through the flight. I think free drinks are only included in premium class.

There is a water fountain near the toilets so you can keep filling up your bottle for free.

The food wasn't that bad,

On the way out we had pasta salad and bread roll for starters, Chiekn and pasta for main and then apple pie and custard. You also get little sanwiches and scones with clotted cream and jam later on in the flight.

On the way home it wasn't as good! we had plain salad and bread roll for starters, some slimy chicken thing for main and a pecan chocolate cake for dessert. Later on you got a bowl of cornflakes and a cereal bar! you should have seen the looks on peoples faces when they realised what they had got! i think everyone was looking forward to a cooked breakfast!

On the way out you also got a bag with an eye mask, crabtree and evelin body lotion and a lipbarm, sock and tissues, plus you got your earphones which you must keep for your return journey (otherwise you have to buy then on the way home).

On the way home you got a really warm fleece blanket (you will need it), blow up neck pillow and and eye mask!

In all they do really look after you, even though our TV's didnt work on the way there, they did give us a free drink. I would pay the extra £5 for the movies, just dont watch them all on the way there as they are the same coming home so you might not have anything to watch. I watched Blood diamond, Dreamgirls and Pursuit of Happiness on the way home.
