We have a 12 hour layover at SDQ, which sounds great except that it's from midnight to noon. At first, I had this grand plan of taking a nap in the airport then heading out to Zona Colonial around 6 for breakfast followed by a quick walk around. But then I realized that we'd probably have to leave there around 9, so I'm no longer sure it's worth the taxi fare.
There looks like there is a Quality Inn kind of close, but there is nothing to do around there. Boca Chica sounds like it may be a good option for overnight, but again, I'm not convinced that it's worth the cab fare. It seems like no matter what, if we leave the airport, we are out at least $50 on cab rides alone.
While I'd love to see some historical sites, I don't think that's going to happen. At this point, I'd settle for a decent breakfast. I'd love to try mangu...we are on our way to PR, and this seems like something unique to DR. Any ideas in Boca Chica or the airport itself? Does anyone know of a clean and quiet place to crash in Boca Chica that has some sort of reasonably-priced airport shuttle at midnight?
Thanks for any advice
