Arriving Nov 12 Bahia Principe |

(it was recommended that I repost here rather than on the Puerto Plata form) Hoping that the food poisioning situation will not be an issue, and that we will have an enjoyable time. I failed to read trip advisor before I booked out 25th wedding anniversary trip, I won't make that mistake again. I noticed that no one ever menitons the resort spa facility when they do a review on this hotel, is there a specifc reason for that? We stayed at the Mayan Riviera Bahia Principe last December and their spa was always busy and the prices were extremely reasonable. If you had to pick just 2 places to do sight seeing and buy souvenirs which 2 would you pick: from the following Puerto Plata, Sousa, Cabarete. From what I have read on-line I do know that Mount Isabel de Torres is worth the trip. Any other suggestions? If you went to ranchowendy can you explain how you got there and is it worth it. We thought the waterfalls looked interesting. |

I got back from Bahia Principe about 7 days ago. I'm fine. Had a great time. I'm a picky eater so stuck pretty close to breads and pasta only. I didn't eat alot of meat. Also I didn't eat any fruit. Loved the eggs for breakfast, french toast etc. My friend on the other hand, tried everything. Seafood, pork, beef, chicken - the whole nine yards. Coconut drinks, fruit, salad - she's fine too. No one that we know of was ill from food while there. The spa at the resort is at the end of the beach - near the market. I didn't go for a pedicure, so wasn't interested in any of those offerings. A massage on the beach runs about $35 USD I think. The building is also very hot inside and when we popped in to look, there were no customers. The gym is air conditioned though, and has about 7 pieces of equipment. It's right next door to the spa. As for sightseeing - we went to Sosua one day and the beach is amazing. Water is crystal clear. Great market street and a Canadian outdoor bar at the top of the market. We also did alot of our "souvineer" shopping at their big grocery store. Coffee is cheap and we LOVED it. Pure vanilla is also a great purchase. And of course, you can buy Presidente beer - $1.00 per can. Cabarete is supposed to be amazing as well. It's very close to the airport. Hope this has helped a little. | ||||||
