Marien Coral Hotel |

Today I booked 2 weeks from 12th March for my husband and I (60) and daughters 27 & 29 for a relaxing holiday, we hope. However, 2 are beach bums and the other 2 like to sight-see as well. Any suggestions - as it's the first time we have been in the Caribeann. Am also worried as my husband has never been long haul and we have to rush through as many vaccinations as possible. I would be grateful for any advice for this hotel, etc. |

I stayed at the Marien Coral a few years a go - it's a great resort, lots to do, the pool is really nice and the walk along the beach is wonderful....you will have an amazing time. My fiancé and I are both into relaxing but yet, since we are in a foreign country we also want to explore, so 3 day out of 7 days we went on excursions - and believe me in Puerto Plata you have plenty of excursions to choose from...we went up the mountain the trolley - it's it just beautiful on this mountain, the scenery on this mountain is just breath taking....we also did the City tour which also brought us to the Rum factory - this is a very good and relaxing tour...we also went on the Monster Truck tour, which took us up in the rugged areas of Puerto Plata, we visited a school, went to Cabarete for some wind surfing (but don’t worry you can also just relax on the beach)...there is just so much you do in a day - it's really worth it. All these excursions include meals and drinks....you will have so much fun...even for the beach bums - it's worth getting out and visiting your surroundings. Have fun!

Its our first time to the Coral Marien this year and im sure it will be brilliant. We have been to the D.R before 2years ago and learnt a few things. Its important that you start on a very high sun factor like 50spf because we dnt and burnt quite bad, which causes problems on trips when you have to cover up more because you in pain. We started off on 50 in cuba and had no problems. You will have to take malaria tablets make sure you stay hydrated because I didnt drink enough and when you take you tablet it doesnt flush through you system like it should. I took it on my flight day which caused me to feel light headed and fate. Mozzies are problems and year after year we have used deet products, which havent really worked. This year im going to try Neal's Yard Remedies cironella spray. The trips in the D.R are good. The monster truck, rum factory ( cheap rum), and paradise island(very pretty). Take U.S Dollars with you but take £20 in pesos as sometimes when things are in pesos and you only have dollars you never know if you being ripped off. papers are about £4 and if you like pringles etc pack them in you case you will save alot of money. If you get hot easy buy some evian spray from boots worth it on hot days. Keep hold of your suitcases at the airport as you will find they take them and want a tip for everything. If you dont want to pay for the safe in your room put your money etc in your suitcase and lock it. who are you flying with? need anymore help let me know. | ||||||
