I m going to cuba in solo the third week of may .I want to know which hotel have the best snorkelling from the beach . I was at the breezes jibacoa the last christmas and it was amazing and now i am thinking to go to the paradisus rio de oro (PRDO) is it better ? or and other quiet hotel. i am a scubadiver but righ now i have a small health problem and i can not dive for a while therefore the snorkelling became my first criteria for this trip .

thank you

Breezes is great snorkling right from the beach, and the instructors will take you out past the breakwater into deeper water, then bring all the fish to you with some bait.

just returned from rdo and have never been to breezes but the snorkling is great at prdo. You can swimm right from shore and see some great fish. the resort also offers a snorkling tip on friday mornings. We saw alot of catermerans out front of the resort and they were snorkling trips that you have to pay for, which is a sign right there about how good the snorkling is, be sure to take some bananas to feed them but be careful they will bite you fingures. I took some baggies with holes in it and squashed bananas in them and fed the that way. As for as resort goes I have nothing but good things to say about it.

Hi Isabelle; We spent at least a week mulling over this same question as well. We have been to the Paradisus and the sister hotel the Sol 2x before but never Jibacoa. From what I understand the Jibacoa does have better off - shore snorkeling, however, and this is what made the determination for us: the jelly fish reports of late. Many of the Trip Reviews for the Jibacoa state that there were many times that snorkeling was not possible due to the jelly fish. And also, if the jelly fish arrive at high tide and the wind doesn't change before the tide goes low they are stuck in between the reef and shore until the tide goes high again, therefore no snorkeling. We too, love to snorkel but did not want to take the chance that we couldn't snorkel so we decided to go to the Paradisus. Also, we were not to interested in anything other than snorkeling... If you are into Havana or other trips that they do this might work for you. The Paradisus is very luxurious. The food is fabulous. The spa is breathtaking. WE did do the Ocean Paradise Catamaran Tour and the Cayo Saetia trip but the snorkeling at the resort is pretty good. WE did consider going to SuperClub Breezes Curacao which has amazing snorkeling (from the trip reports), however, it was fully booked the time that we were interested in. Good luck in your decision.
