Hello all!

I am due to go to PRDO in May 07 for two weeks on honeymoon. I too have been a little shocked at some of the recent reviews. In particular as an arachnophobic some photos and reviews of the complex being home to tarrantula spiders. This is my worst nightmare come true so much so I am thinking of changing my resort choice. Please could anyone who has visited give me an honest opinion of this problem. I really do not want to change my whole holiday because of this and I do think that people who post photos should think of the affect it may have on others. One photo of a tarantula viewed by an arachnophobic does lead to aniexty and an image of the hotel being full of them!!! Is this the case?

Hi been there 6 times and never seen a spider lots of crabs and frogs running about especially at night the place is wonderful and dont forget to try the spa.

Things tend to get blown up out of all proportion. I have been to Cuba many times, staying in both hotels and casa particulares and have only ever seen one spider in all my visits.

You are staying at a top class hotel. Please do not get yourself worked up and in a state over this. Go to the PRDO and enjoy your honeymoon.

We've been there 4 times and have never come across one, ever! We have been in both the forrested area & sunny south side.

I can relate to your anxiety Joanne79. After booking our trip to PRDO a year ago, I saw the pictures of a nasty spider on this site and almost died! I too have a serious phobia of spiders and was so worried I would come across one while away. The good news is that I didn't!! With that being said, some of the rooms are in a pretty heavily treed area which I am guessing may house more critters?? That's my theory anyways, so I would stay away from there!!

Good luck and have fun on your honeymoon. You have great things to focus on...no worries about spiders!!
