hi guys! does anyone know of a good and cheap car rental place in barbados?
hi sanpan427. just back after two great weeks in barbados we hired a soft top jeep for 14 days from topclass only had 2000k on the clock cost only 620 us i could.ent find anywere cheaper hope this helps.
Cheap is relative but the government just announced a price increase for "Visitor Drivers Permits" from $10.00 to $100.00
As for car rental try MAH Car Rentals at mahcarrentals@sunbeach.net (246)427-1952 or 436-7189. Their cars are clean, well kept with delivery and pick up when and where you want.
Holy smokes $100?? What a difference...I should have gotten another one this year for next!
I can recommend A B C Deals Car Rentals, ask for Miss Moneypenny, very efficient and she keeps her rates the same during the Crop Over season unlike many other companies who increase their rates during this time.
By the way the thousand per cent increase in Visitor's Driving Permits is rather harsh, I would like to hear any views of repeats clients to Barbados!!
Visitors might want to consider getting an International Drivers Permit as long if Barabdos is a signatory to the system.
Go to this website and yes Barbados is a signatory: http://www.drivers.com/article/206/
As far as I know the International Driver's permit will validate that you have a driver's license in your home country.
With respect to Barbados, they get around this and say vistors must "register" to drive in Barbados and so you will be stuck with the fee no matter what.
So getting an IDP in this instance will only be a waste of time and/or money.
