There are no rental cars on Bermuda. Buses, ferries and taxis are readily available. You can also rent scooters.

Tell us what your interests are and I'm sure that we can suggest plenty for you to do.

Hello and Thankyou. i suppose alot depends on the weather really ,on a sunny day a nice beach within easy distance but not one that all the cruise ship passengers go to. Prefer some where a bit quieter . nice architecture ,scenery etc but as time limited not too far a field , anything land based that you would recommend . also is Hamilton within easy walking distance fro the port. if not how do we get there? Many thanks

If your ship is docking in the Royal Naval Dockyard, possibly King's Wharf, then Hamilton is not within walking distance. You can take a ferry across, lovely ride through the Great Sound, takes about 20 minutes.

Special buses will take you to Horseshoe Bay on the South Shore but if you want something quieter then take the regular #7 bus and maybe try Warwick Long Bay or one of the little coves along the same stretch. Ask the bus driver to tell you the stop.

Try clicking on Things to do in the green shaded bar at the top of this page. Some ideas there. You could also consider hiring one of the Blue Flag taxis. The driver will give you a tour of the island for a minimum of four hours. Cost is about $55 per hour.

You can buy a one day pass for the buses and ferries which will give you unlimited rides for the day.

The Dockyard itself is historical and has some of the enormous stone buildings left by the Royal Navy and now used for museums, restaurants, retail shops etc.

www.portbermudawebcam.com is interesting and I warn you gets addictive.

I may be a bit out on the cost of a guided taxi tour. Will be more in the region of perhaps $40 per hour for a minimum of three hours.

Take a private taxi tour of Bermuda with a BLUE FLAG certified taxi tour guide. $40 per hour (1-4 passengers) or $50.50 per hour (5-6 passengers) with a three(3) hour minimum. Most taxi tours will take 3-4 hours. BLUE FLAG AMBASSADOR taxi tour guides are all VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE about all things 'Bermuda' and can usually customize your tour to take any of your own particular interests and/or priorities into consideration (art & architecture, flora & faune, general/military history, parks & gardens, etc) When considered against most cruise line 'shore excursions', these private taxi tours probably represent one of the biggest and best relative 'bargains' in Bermuda.

OR....take some time and make some effort to do some of your own destination research on what Bermuda has to offer, filtered through your own individual personal preferences, priorities, special needs & budget and do your own self-directed '..tour..' of Bermuda using Bermuda's genuinely excellent public transportation system--buses and ferries--as your mode of transport. You can easily do your own '..circumnavigation..' of tiny Bermuda by '..land 'n sea..' in a day.

You'll have time to visit the museum in dockyard or go to St Georges town, it's easy to get around and there are beatifull beaches there, restaurents and a fort, probably better.. if your ship is docked in Heritage wharf, shopping will not be a problem since there is a duty free suvenir shop called Carole Holding.

If you are going to the royal naval dockyard there are lots of places you could visit.

People head to beautiful black bay beach or take in local history at the Bermuda Maritime Museum

Or have some fun playing 18 holes of mini golf at the brand new Bermuda fun golf course

People going to heritage wharf can get around by cab, take a bus or walk., but lots of people also hire a scooter when they come to Bermuda on vacation. You could rent one from a known island company like

Elbow Beach Cycles

Oleander cycles

or Smatts
