How long to get to other beaches

We will be staying in St. Georges and it seems that the prettiest beach in this area is Tobacco Bay. Does this compare to the South shore beaches? Being there for 2 weeks, we would like to explore many beaches esp some of the popular ones in south. How far does it take via bus/ferry?

Can you get conch to eat on the island (at restaurants)?

It could take you the best part of two hours when you factor in waiting time for ferry/bus connections and getting to bus/ferry stops. There is conch on the menu at The Freeport restaurant at the Dockyard. Don't know about other places. Always difficult to compare beaches, depends on personal preference. South Shore wins for the length and number of beaches and coves, quite spectacular. Whether you will be any happier there I don't know.

The little coves and beaches out at Bermuda's east-end--Tobacco Bay, Achilles Bay, Saint Catherine's Beach on Saint George's, Clearwater Beach and Turtle Bay on Saint David's--are certainly lovely spots but they can't hold a candle to the several beaches and coves located out along Bermuda's magnificent south shore in Paget, Warwick and Southampton parishes.

Perhaps the fastest way between Saint George's and the south shore beaches will be via ORANG route ferry to Dockyard (40-45 mins)...then transfer to the #7 bus to the south shore beaches (approx. 25 mins. to Church Bay; approx. 30 mins to Horseshoe Bay; 50 mins to Elbow Beach).

Via public bus--#1, #3, #10 or #11 to downtown Hamilton (approx. 60 mins)... then transfer over to #7 bus at the main bus terminal out to the south shore beaches (approx. 15 mins to Elbow Beach; 35 mins to Horseshoe Bay, 40 mins to Church Bay)

Another alternative exists---though for the wonderfully scenic rides rather than speed or efficiency---#1--Saint George's-Hamilton bus to the main ferry terminal, on the waterfront in downtown Hamilton (approx. 60 mins)...then BLUE--Hamilton-Dockyard ferry to Dockyard (approx. 20 mins)...then traqnsfer ove to #7--Dockyard-Via South Shore Beaches-Hamilton bus to the south shore beaches.

For a 'quick fix' of south shore beach from Saint George's...try JOHN SMITH BAY, along Bermuda's southeastern shore in Tucker's Town. It's a pretty '..one fare..' ride from Saint George's on the scenic, #1--Saint George's-Hamilton bus route (approx. 35 mins).
