Elbow Beach v/s Fairmont South Hampton |
|
I will be visiting Bermuda this coming September for about a week and am trying to decide on the best hotel. So far I've narrowed it down to Elbow Beach and Fairmont South Hampton. Which is better? |
|
Both are good resort hotels....but of the two, the ELBOW BEACH HOTEL is probably the better choice. It will be closer and more conveniently situated to downtown Hamilton, which is the main area on Bermuda for dining, shopping and nightlife and the nexus for Bermuda's public transportation system. In addition to the large, main hotel building at the top of the hill, EBH also has several smaller, multi-unit (4-6 rooms/suites) and singe '..cottage..' accommodations located on its lushly landscaped grounds, on the hillside going down from the main hotel to Elbow Beach itself. These '..cottage..' accommodations may offfer elements of the best of both worlds---somewhere between large, full-service resort hotel and smaller more, intimate Bermudian '..cottage colony..'. The FAIRMONT SOUTHAMPTON HOTEL is Bermuda's largest hotel...and though 'positioned' as a resort-hotel, it may be just a bit more attuned toward convention and conference trade. It will also be farther to downtown Hamilton. The hotel does offer its own private ferry service to its sister hotel, the HAMILTON PRINCESS, (but this private ferry service may be more '..convenient..' in theory than it is in practice.

Does Elbow Beach offer any type of meal plan?
|
I am also interested to hear if Elbow beach has any type of meal plan. We are booked for Elbow Beach in June and think it would be much easier with a young child if they had some type of meal plan. I emailed the resort about a week ago and they still have not answered. Does anyone know if the have a meal plan?
|
I'm somewhat shocked that you would book a resort without knowing if they offered a meal plan, well, that's just me - if you have had no reply to your e-mail, perhaps you should ring them up by phone. Also have you checked out the resorts' web site? I GOOGLED in 'elbow beach' and found their site, this is a Mandarin Oriental managed hotel. I didn't spend too much time on the site, they do have three or four dining options, didn't see any meal plans, as such, listed. If I were you, I'd make the phone call and for some 1st hand information. Poppa

Obviously I did check their website if I emailed them. Hotels do not always include everything on their websites. I have found out from a few posts that other hotels in Bermuda offer a breakfast plan and a breakfast-dinner plan that they don't have listed on their websites. Elbow Beach was including breakfast with their rooms until the renovations were completed. I'm just asking to see if anyone knows if the Elbow Beach Resort offers something similar. I'm not looking for a "smart" answer" thank you.
|
How would I know that you checked the website if you only stated that you e-mailed the resort? I was offering my opinion and what I would do in your situation, if you interpeteted it as a "smart' answer, oh well!. I drafted what I considered a reasonable answer to a query. The End.

I apologize if you were trying to be helpful. There are alot of less than helpful people who post on here.

A single e-mail can easily be overlooked or misplaced within a hotel this large and busy...so flollowing up with a 2nd or 3rd doesn't involve all that much time or effort. (Copy & Paste..SEND)..... Concierge---------elbowconcierge@mohg.com Reservations-----ebbda-reservations@mohg.com BUT...the glaringly OBVIOUS....and perhaps the very FIRST thing you ought to have done was to PICK UP YOUR TELEPHONE, dial the Toll-Free number provided on the hotel's web site, under '..CONTACT US..'--- 1 (800) 223-7434 ---and simply asked your question....and gotten the answer, including prices...just as simply as that. I just did and got the information in less than three(3) minutes (I timed it from the time I Googled the hotel openned their web site, clicked on Contact Us, found the 800 telephone number, dialed it and spoke to a live person on Bermuda and hung up) . I'll just bet you can too.

KDK - good answer - GOOGLE is a lifesaver and websites a wealth of information - and as stated took around 3 minutes. As for asileen's comment on less than helpful people on this Forum - would you care to list any specifics - I haven't noticed any personally as of late. KDK - you might be in for an admonishment; apparently the OP is somewhat sensitive to 'smart' answers. Keep 'em flying............. Poppa

KDK - not the OP - another poster who asked a question - sorry for the inaccuracy. Poppa
