Hello everyone-
I just arrived back and downloading some pictures onto my computer and figured I'd write a short (im very tired) trip report. My husband, son(13 months) and I stayed at the FSH for 5days/4nights- it was absolutely spectacular- yes, this is a HUGE resort- and Yes, the prices are expensive. But I think one key issue here that people forget - this is Bermuda! Things are going to be more expensive bc it is not a cheap place to live/vacation. Yes, you can find lesser expensive meals - and we needed to do this b/c of our son and I did not want to show up in some romantic restaurant and be disrespectful -ALTHOUGH I must say my son is very well behaved -but lets be serious...
Anyway, the weather was absouletly WONDERFUL and the beach was wonderful, water temp right on target- very nice- temps are gorgeous this time of year... and the pool was just perfect. The food was great- for a hotel this size, they really prepare the food as if you're dining in some small, intimate restaurant - even for the kids- oh, and our little one ate FREE which was a HUGE plus...
The lobby bar/restaurant was great for martinis and pizzas/paninis- we would go out a little earlier than usual, beat the crowds and order dessert to go and eat it on our balconly w/some coffee after the bambino was asleep-which leads me to our room
Our deal came w/a free "upgrade" to a fairmont room- the room was VERY nicely appointed - with a view of the harbor- they had a pack and play all ready to go- granite countertops in the bathroom, walk in closet- sitting area and nice balcony-
The people in Bermuda-
so nice, so, very very nice-now, they deal with tourists all the time and i assure you, they have the patients of saints :)
They answered all our questions, were very helpful and some of the classiest people i've ever met.
The buffet breakfast was great in the morning- i suggest filling up on breakfast - maybe a quick snack/drink and save for dinner-
Restuarants-
1ST NIGHT -The Waterlott
Great food- restored from the 1600's? What a great meu- expensive, but worth it
2nd night - Jasmine- in the front lobby lounge area- u seat yourself- there is a piano player- very pretty atmosphere-
3rd night - Tio Pepe's -
GREAT Italian food- I assumed it was mexican, but the owner is Spanish-therefore the name
I Had the best zuppa di pesce
One of the best ive ever had- they made a nice dark and stormy, too
4th night- Henry VIII's
5 min cab ride- across from the Wyndham-
OK, this place was good, i liked the atmosphere, but before we arrived i asked if kid friendly, they said yes, but i dont know, alot of couples- but you can see it got crazy later on- they had a pub there and live bands
Overall, Bermuda is not like other caribbean getaways, in addition, its not really the "caribbean" - sub tropical wonderful climate with a great history and people
Id rather pay a little more for class, sophistication, with a laid back feeling.... wouldnt you?
Any questions, feel free to ask ....
Ciao, Maria-
