The "B" restaurants rate an "A"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With no forethought at all, I realized an rather odd thing occurred. Four of our first five dinner restaurants all started with the letter "B". Bistro J, Blu, Broadway Bistro and Barracuda Grill . Bizzare but true...
The first night, Wednesday 8/30, we arrived in Hamilton to late to grab any street food at Harbour Nights, so we stopped in at Bistro J. Tucked behind Port O'Call on Chancery Lane, the setting is lovely. They share the same kitchen but the that's all they have in common.
Low key lighting, soft jazz and lovely artwork surround you. Service was friendly & prompt. Water and a tempting bread basket with foccacia was presented straight away and the menu explained while we sipped our cocktails.
The menu changes daily according to the market. It is written on a large blackboard (easy to see). All appetizers are $10.95, all entrees $20.95 and all desserts $7.95. There were about 5-6 items in each category and they all sounded good! Some unique combinations, mussels with a curry sauce (my app) some just a little twist on an oldie (Steamed wahoo with Thai spices (P's entree) but everything was delicious. Wine list was also unique, with everything arranged by price categories. 3 reds/3 whites 19.95, 3 reds/3 whites 24.95, etc.
Desert was a fantastic sorbet presented in an ice sculpture!!!! I love it when you can have a truly great meal and still have fun with it. The word is out on this one. As the night wore on, seats filled up with Bermudians. We left near 11 and the place was hopping (This was a Wednesday, remember) Bravo, Bistro J.
