Got the same deal, have heard GREAT things about it. Some of the reviews are negative, but just remember that everyone likes different things. I checked out Fodor's and Frommer's from the public library and liked what I read, as well. The only draw-backs that are mentioned is that 1) it is on a hill and you have to take a resort bus down to the beach and that 2) the free ferry to Hamilton is sometimes off schedule. I can work around those things being on "island" time and knowing that the services are provided FREE OF CHARGE. I think the negative comments are from impatient people. Anyway, I am bettng my odds and leave mid-October. If your trip isn't until after that, I will be more than happy to give you a review.

It's a beautiful hotel, but once you're inside there's nothing to indicate you're in Bermuda; it could be NYC. It is a very large hotel and often has a lot of Conferences, etc.

So while it certainly is very nice, if you're looking for more of a quiet, intimate vacation, I would not recommend it. You'd be better off going to one of the smaller hotels.

A thread was just bumped titled Cambridge/Fairmont/Elbow. Go to page 3 and read Joe-Concierge. He just returned from the Fairmont and has very nice things to say. Also, a new poster just added to the TripAdvisor ratings for the Fairmont...and added pictures. Made me feel VERY confident in my choice to book this hotel. Now, I am REALLY excited about my trip...but just learned that October is the rainiest month!!! ARGH! Oh well. It is what it is and I won't be at work so all is good!
