I know this sounds weird but I keep hearing about thesse stray cats at Elbow Beach. IAre there really that many? I am really allergic to cats and I may have to live on Benedryl!

I've never heard of stray cats being a problem at the Elbow Beach Hotel. I do know that the hotel's grounds and gardens of the hotel property are extensive...and that there are certainly some stray cats on Bermuda...so it is certainly possible (quite probable) that some stray cats are about. It's a hotel..there are restaurants and there are garbage dumpsters on the property...and no doubt some guests who think them cute and feed them scraps. But as a general rule, stray cats are NOT a problem. Just don't leave a saucer of milk, and open can of tuna and a tray of kitty litter out on your patio at night....and you should be just fine.

Be more concerned about tripping over one of the large, brown toads that tend to come out at night, as you stroll around the grounds in the evening. You can put saddles on some of these '..beauty-challenged..' creatures and ride them into town...they're often that large.

Thanks for the info- I see a lot of CAT photos in peoples pictures and talk of stray cats in reviews and it was making me nervous. I will pack the Benedryl incase one takes a liking to me!

It's always a good idea to take Benedryl along when traveling.

We did see a couple of stray cats hanging around Mickey's a few years ago when we went. And this year we took a picture of one sleeping under a hammock but the place was certainly not full of cats and we just thought they were cute.

There are several stray cats right next to Cocoa Reef Hotel. But I have never seen any at Elbow Beach.

I even saw one stray cat while at the Reefs. It was meandering among the bushes right below our balcony one morning, while I was outside with sipping my coffee.

I saw about 5 different cats on the grounds of Elbow beach. Sunday morning they looked like they were sun bathing on the stairs heading toward the beach.

There are stray cats in Bermuda for sure. But let's keep things in perspective- there are not swarms of them.

Also, Bermuda is an incredibly small place so even cats with owners do tend to wander about. They don't need to go far to find themselves on someone else's property.
