Just returned from Coco Reef |
|
Coco Reef is situated next door to Elbow so it's on Elbow Beach in our opinion. Plenty of chairs both on the sand and also on a landing above the beach which also has sand and then chairs around the pool. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. They called to rent our scooter, called when we wanted it returned, made dinner reservations and taxi calls for us. Our room had a king size bed, nicely decorated with a ceiling fan and quiet a/c. We had a very large flat screen TV which seemed out of place but I wasn't complaining because it was nice when we got home from dinner to unwind and there were at least 40 channels to choose from. Channels started at 1 and went to 99 but there were more than several channels that received no reception. Our room had a safe, iron and ironing board, plenty of hangers, two bathrobes for our use, coffee machine and blow dryer. Full size tube and very good shower pressure. Our sliding glass door also had a screen door to use that opened up to our oceanfront view. Always felt safe. There is a lot of walking up and down hills and steps on most of the properties we visited as with Coco. We did manage on a couple of occasions to get one of the workers to come for us with a golf cart and save us a sweaty walk up the hill. It is certainly not handicap accessible. The main building/dining is at the top of the hill, pool is down several flights of steps and then you walk down a hill to the oceanfront units and then down steps to the beach. The units that are oceanview are on the same line with the dining room so you have an even greater walk to the beach. While there is a bus stop in front of the hotel it's quite a hike and after doing it one mid afternoon with the sun beating down on me as I walked to the local "mart" I quickly decided I would not use the bus system. I couldn't imagine being dressed for dinner and having to walk all the way out to the bus and do the same thing when returning. We took taxi's at night and only had difficulty one night getting back from Front Street and it was because it was raining all night and everyone was waiting for cabs. Just another one of those comparisons were having your own car is so convenient. Taxi's for us started to become insufficient as we just didn't want to go from point A to B but want to "bop" around the island so I let my husband talk me into a 2 seater scooter. I was nervous but I trusted him and decided if we were going to explore in the daytime we needed to do it this way. I even got a little brazen and later that day tried driving it myself in the parking lot of Coco. I was doing pretty good at first but the bike got away from me and I nearly crashed. I said nearly but it was enough to scare the crap out of my husband and enough to make me realize that you really need to know what you are doing to drive them. We rented the scooter for 3 days but in the evenings when we dressed for dinner we took a taxi. I'll be happy to answer any questions about the resort and my recent visit. As a first time visitor I am certainly no expert on Bermuda. |

Sounds like you enjoyed your trip and accomodations at Coco Reef, we are going next week and can't wait but I was a little nervous about the poster complaining about the bugs!

The occasional '..Palmetto Bug..' (large, black and prehistorically ugly) is a relatively harmless FACT OF LIFE in lushly vegetated tropical and semi-tropical climates--Bermuda included--and you may (are likely to) encounter some at ANY guest accommodation on Bermuda. If you don't; you simply haven't been there long enough. Guest accommodations preventatively treat and spray against them...but with the best will in the world, some occasionally manage to find their way past these defenses.
