Just back from honeymoon at The Reefs.....WE LOVED IT!

We just returned from our one-week honeymoon last night at the Reefs....and absolutely fell in love with it. I will write a much more detailed review of our stay at The Reefs in a few more days, but wanted to write a brief message. I now understand why so many visitors are repeaters. There is just a special magic about the place.....we were sorry to see our taxi pull out of the drive to take us back to the airport.

We both knew in the first 48 hours that we would definitely be returningd to the beautiful island of Bermuda, and to the Reefs.

To Bermuda Obsessed.....I totally understand your screen name now. Gorgeous, clean island, friendly people,......the list goes on.

Daffy.....I know you will love your stay at The Reefs.

I will also post a more thourough trip report on the forum, with some tips/thoughts, etc.

Hi Deb

I've been waiting for your return. Where is the long review/post you mentioned? And did you post and photos? I am going to Cambridge Beaches (couldn't get into the reefs) on the 25th of july. Looking for any and all tips on romantic things to do, places to go and good snorkeling. I am doing the beach dinner at CB and I want to go to the Reefs one night for dine around. I hear i can't plan that until i get there though--is that right? We fly in on Tuesday and leave Saturday so i'm trying to figure out how much i should plan to do. Like a moped around the island? How long would that take--a full day? How much does it cost to get to the Reefs from CB? And will i really want to see hamilton etc?

thanks for any help!! So glad you had a good trip!

Hi Dana.....

Just wrote you on another post (re: Dine-Around). For Coconuts....if you can, there is a part of the restaurant towards the back that is actually lower, than most of the restaurant. You have to walk down about 6 steps. If you can, try to eat over there. Since it is lower, you will be that much closer to the water. it's really nice!

About my review....i finished writing it yesterday....it is long, but I think very informative :-). i sent the maximum number of pics they will allow on trip advisior. The reason you don't see it yet, is because all reviews have to be submitted, then reviewed by TAdvisor first. It takes about 48 hrs. So, I'm thinking it might be there, under the Reefs reviews, tomorrow.

As for the moped.....we rented a scooter....and I rode on the back. I wasn't entirely comfortable the first time around riding by myself, and I figured it would be twice as expensive, too. Umm....we did see all of the island, but not in one day. We went to Dockyards one day.....that will be a fairly short trip from CB for you, and then another day we went to St. Georges, on the other side of the island for the snorkeling at Tobacco Bay. So, we didn't travel the whole island in one day.

Romantic things to do.....maybe have CB pack up a picnic lunch for you and take to some isolated cove. There are many of these, just west of Horseshoe Bay, where you have quite a bit of privacy. Oh....and go to there on a Friday.....otherwise you will be flooded with cruise ship passengers.

I know that CB has some sort of private island dinner, as well....but I think it's pretty pricey. I would think the beach dinner would be just as nice.

As far as going into Hamilton.....you might just want to pop in there on Harbour Nights.....if for nothing else, to see the Goombay Dancers. They also have their stores open until 10pm, I think, and there are are local artisans that have booths set up along the sidewalks.

Any other Q's just let me know.

About the cost of taxi from CB to Reefs.....I will have to ask my husband. We were lucky though, in that we met up with a couple that was going to CB on the same night as us.. We ended up splitting the cab fare.

Danaroo, When we stayed at CB the cab was I think 20$ each way to the Reefs....Also, We wanted to eat at Coconuts, but they said we could only eat at the inside restaurant.I think it was Echo 56....It was great food though....I would go to Hamilton on the complimentary ferry ride from CB..It departs at CB's dock at 8:45 on M, Wed, and Fri...and they let you walk around for a few hours and your back at CB by 1:00....Its just enough time to see the town and shops, and its a very nice relaxin 25 minute ferry ride.....You will love the private beach dinner , Its very romantic..Ask if you can have it set up on the Turtle Cove beach..Its much more quaint...You are so lucky ! I wish I was going! I hope you love CB as much as I did...It was the most relaxed I ve ever been in my life!!! Make sure you try the souffles!!
