Southampton Parish Rental

First time going to Bermuda with family of 4. Two adults and children aged 9 and 12. Considering a rental in Southampton Parish close to the beach. Can anyone tell me about this area? Is it nice, safe, convenient, etc. We will be cooking our own meals and either spending time at the beach or exploring the island, we love to snorkel. Thanks for any information you can share.

Southampton Parish is among Bermuda's lovelier areas. It will be safe, relatively convenient (depending on the location of your private rental property ??) to Bermuda's magnificent south shore beaches, the Royal Naval Dockyard complex at Bermuda's far west-end, downtown Hamilton at Bermuda's '..center..'...and will have relatively easy access to public transportation (#7 & #8--Hamilton-Dockyard public bus routes and sub-routes and GREEN-Hamilton-Rockaway public ferry service.

BUT...the degree of '..convenience..' and access to any of the above will depend on ***WHERE*** in Southampton Parish your rental is actually situated. Which rental agency is it through??...and what is the rental's reference number ?? for more specific information. You'll find that you'll receive more specific and detailed information if you also provide some of the NOT-so-minor-details to your enquiries.

This is not through an agency but I can tell you that it is located at the end of Sinky Bay Rd., near Cross Bay. Thanks for your response and any further info you can offer.

Ahhh...the not-so-minor-details help....and get you more detailed and better 'directed' information.(go figga'??)The property will be on a sparsely populated promontory between the well sheltered Sinky Bay and the now demolished Sonesta Beach Hotel property and Cross and East Whale Bays, the site of the Fairmont hotel's private beach club. There should be good snorkeling all 'round this promontory and you can probably walk along the mostly private shoreline (perhaps ½ mi.) , past the Fairmont beach club, to Horseshoe Bay beach. You'll also have access to the well protected Boat Bay on the old Sonesta Beach Hotel property. For the best snorkeling-from-the-beach in Bermuda, CHURCH BAY will be a quick one(1) mile bus ride (2 or 3 quick stops??) to the west (to your right as you face the ocean).

Your access to public transport will be via the #7--Hamilton-Via South Shore Beaches-Dockyard bus route (and #7 sub-routes) out Sinky Bay Road, up the to regular bus stop for the #7 route(s) up on the South Road (approx.¼ mi./ 400-450 yards). Access to either the #8 bus route (runs along the Middle Road) and GREEN route ferry will be within walking distances of the property.

There will be two larger supermarkets(MARKET PLACE and ARNOLD'S), to the west, in Somerset (heading to/from Dockyard) along the #7 bus route and another MODERN MART supermarket to the east (heading to/from downtown Hamilton) in Paget, along the same #7 bus route.

With apologies.....this should have read, "...Access to either the #8 bus route (runs along the Middle Road) and GREEN route ferry will ***NOT*** be within walking distances of the property....".
