Transportation around the island

Hi everyone, we are a group oh 4 women traveling to Bermuda for the first time. We have traveled extensively and are really looking forward to Bermuda. We generally rent a car or have a driver for the week. Since both don't seem available can you tell me the ease of the bus and ferry system. It seems that buying a weekly pass is the best scenario as its use us unlimited for a week. How easy is it to navigate the ferry and bus system? We will be staying close to Flatts Village.

Bermuda's public transportation system--buses and ferries) is genuinely excellent....reasonably convenient....easy to figure-out and use (assuming you can figure out how to navigate your way through a revolving door without audio-visual aids)....economic (with the purchase of a public TRANSPORTATION PASS)...and will take you to--or near to--just about anywhere you may want to go during your visit. Just about every minute of every mile, of every public bus and ferry route is a '..great ride..' The public TRANSPORTATION PASS provides you with simple, convenient '..hop-on/hop-off.. access to bus and ferry routes.

There are three(3) public bus routes that pass through the Village of Flatts--#3, #10 & #11--Hamilton-Saint George's and one(1) sub-route--#3--Hamilton-Grotto Bay....so you've relatively frequent (including later in the evening) bus service to/from the area.

stay out of taxi's on Sunday and after mid-night the rates for 4 people increase up 25%...if you are on main road #10 #11will serve you good those are bus route numbers..they lead to and from Hamilton..which is main depot transfer there to anywhere..and also lead to St. George

You also need to bear in mind that most public bus routes reduce service frequency or curtail service in the evenings and on weekends (Sunday in particular...as do most public transport systems), so you need to consult the published/printed schedules...and that last-run-of-the-day for the #8 route to Dockyard goes at 10:45 PM and #11 route to Saint George's at 11:45 PM. Routes that may run 1-every-15 minutes may be reduced to 1-every-60 minutes on Sundays.

The official taxi fare surcharge after midnight, all-day Sundays & holidays is 25% for 1-4 passengers and 50% for 5-6 passengers.
