 Golf at The Belmont

Help! Since the old hotel

is basically gone and we love the Belmont course where can we stay that's nearby on a bus line or ferry line? Thanks

I played Belmont Hills Golf Club in July...I stayed at Ariel Sands. It took me about 10-15 minutes on the scooter to get there. I would imagine anything in Paget would be the closest. The course sits up from Middle Road (Ithink) so you would have an uphill jaunt from the bus stop.

I remember one of the workers was out at the end of the street trying to hail a taxi for some golfers at the clubhouse.

Going2Bermuda....If you think the trek up the drive

to the Belmont clubhouse

is bad, you should see the

climb up from the ferry!

We (there will be 4 of us

celebrating our 10th ann'y

of golfing in Bermuda...

usually in Januray...not too

smart!) are (oops, some of us

are) too old for motorbikes, etc. We need to be on Middle Road or somewhere they can call us a taxi...

Thanks.

The closest hotel you will find to the Belmont will be--

HARMONY CLUB-- bermudaresorthotels.com/Hotels/…index

GRAPE BAY BEACH HOTEL-- www.bermudaresorthotels.com/Hotels/GrapeBay

SURFSIDE BEACH--

www.bermudaresorthotels.com/Hotels/SurfSide

FAIRMONT SOUTHAMPTON PRINCESS--

http://www.fairmont.com/southampton/

ELBOW BEACH HOTEL--

http://www.mandarinoriental.com/bermuda/

COCO REEF RESORT (old Stonington)--

http://www.cocoreefbermuda.com/

The nearest hotel to the Belmont is The WHARFS EXECUTIVE SUITES HOTEL (old Invurerie/Palm Reefs), just down the Harbour Road, at Cobb's Hill Rd....but this has been redeveloped into primarily a business-oriented hotel (and only has 14 suites availabe for guests) and probably wouldn't suit your other priorities.

If push comes to shove, why not give Mike & Catherine a call. Thier place is just up at the top of the hill, on Longford Rd. and only a couple of blocks from the Belmont's clubhouse. They probably have a few spare guest rooms that they might put you all up in for your visit. Be sure to ask to see the Oscars.

and who might 'Mike and

Catherine' be? Sounds good

but is this a guest house?

Do you know anything about

the condos right across the

street from the Belmont's

main entrance that are

actually on the golf course?

Thanks for your input.

I'm not sure which condos you mean but after razing the original Belmont Hotel on the property, the developer has been busy building a new condo-development around the golf course for sale to resident and non-Bermudian owners....as well as more recently redeveloping the old Newstead Hotel (also razed to the ground) property and combining the re-development plans.

There's also a condo development, built into the side of the hill on the Harbour Road (at Longford Road--white buildings going up the side of the hill, overlooking the Great Sound and harbour) that's been there for a few years that's resident housing.
