What are the pros and cons of each? Can someone help me? Who has the nicer facility/beach?

Anybody been to either or both?

Thanks-

Ro

I am all for CB...I was there for my honeymoon in June 2005....We loved it...Very private, 5 small beaches..My husband and I were the only couple on one of the beaches called turtle cove for most of the week...The food is much better then Pompano from what I heard...No kids at CB uinder 5...You wont sere too many familes..It is all the way on the west end, but they have a free ferry service from the resort..which is a nice 25 minute ride to Hamilton for shopping...They also have nice champagne rides, and different excursions at night...The private beacher dinner, and I mean really private, is amazing!!!...If you can afford it stay in a cambridge suite...They are newer....Or ask for a rennovated premium room...I decided against going to Pompano because they only have one really small beach....Do the virtual tours of both places, and I would pick which one you feel more drawn too...One thing aout Pompano is it is cheaper then CB... :(....Any questions??

I have been going to The Reefs, part of the Bermuda Collection since 90. I have dined at CB many times. The place is really old money, blue blood. Very stuffy but the best food. Odd kind of dining room with pink colors. The bar is olive 70's drab green. Funky place but again amazing food and service. I am spoiled by The Reefs in every way.

I honestly never found CB to be stuffy...it is a nice quiet atmosphere...I felt the Reefs to be over run with more crowds

Hi Rose Ann

I lived in Bermuda for over 2 years and I know the island and the hotels very well. I would recommend Cambrdige Beaches over Pompano Beach Club any day; there is just no comparison between the two. CB is farther away that PBC. CB is situated on the south end tip of the island in Somerset. Where by Pompano is situated in Southampton very close to Horseshoe Bay, the most famous beach in Bermuda but also the most crowded.

Both of them are on the same route for the main route of buses and the services can run until 11:30 at night, but if you get a taxi, CB is a bit more far away and in Bermuda everything is very expensive so your pocket will suffer if you get taxis constatly, whereby PBC is a bit closer to Hamilton but not by much (maybe 3 miles, 4 tops different between each).

As for comfort, they are pretty much same level of luxury, which in Bermuda is colonial and stuffines is non-existing at all. Cambridge Beaches does have, besides the main hotel building, little house over the sea as private suites which it makes it more exciting and especial over any other hotel in the Island.

The beaches I would recommend CB as you will have some much more room for yourself than in PBC. Very few people would go that "far" to go to the beach. Also the sunsets in CB are expectacular as there is nothing to interrupt the view, very very romantic. Loads of couples would go on picnics in Somerset to view the sunsets, highly recomended if you are going with your significant other. Most of the picturesque photos will come from Somerset as it is the least spoil area in the entire Bermuda.

There is more to see and do in Southampton than Somerst, you should go for brunch on Sunday to the Lighthouse, the tea room there is fantastic and was one of my favorite places for brunch, and in Bermuda it happens to be "cheap" which you will not get cheap in the island......I recomend the lemonade; you also have a very well known pub close to Southampton Princess Hotel (cannot remember the name) that on Sundays, becomes really lively in the evenings with the locals/expat community and has live music during high season. If you like golf you have two good courses as well as the crazy golf nearby. Once you pass Southampton, you are in Somerst. In somerset you have dockyards which is the old fort/prison when english ruled the island many years ago. There is also a very good museum on Bermuda and slavery history on top of the hill; The pub in dockyards is very popular with the residents/expats for lunches and the fish and chips is a must. If you rent a scooter, please do not leave any belonging inside the scooter as dockyards is the favority place for thiefs to open the scooters . The main bus line departs from here and it is very frequent and reliable.

I hope the above is helpful, but please do not hesitate to ask further questions.
