Pompano Beach Club - Taxi or Private Airport Transfer ???

We are trying to decide whether to take a taxi or hire a private airport transfer from the Bermuda Airport to Pompano Beach Club.

I would appreciate any information on your experience with taxi fare between the two points or if you have used a private transfer. If you did use a private transfer, please provide the name of the firm you used and the cost of the trip.

Thanks to all.

Any ordinary taxi from the line waiting just outside of the doors of the Arrival Hall (local taxi drivers know the airline schedules better than the air traffic controllers) at the airport will be just fine. If you arrange for a "..private transfer.." through Pompano Beach Club (or almost any Bermuda guest accommodation...and probably cost more than the normal taxi fare)...all they will do is pre-arrange for an ordinary taxi to pick you up at the airport. The average taxi fare between the airport and Pompano Beach Club will run $40-45.

Years ago we used a company called LONDON TAXIS (now sadly out of business) that operated three(3--black, white & blue) renovated, 'boxy', Austin, '..London..' taxis on Bermuda. We used them two or three times for airport pick-ups (for the 'hoot'). At the time the largest automobiles on Bermuda were the Governour's Damlier-Benz, the Premier's BMW-700 and the local mortician's Ford Counrtry Squire station wagon...and these three Austin taxis. Sadly, the company is no longer in business but at least one of the old Austins (the white one) is still around in private hands and is occasionally seen transporting brides & groom at the head of local wedding processions.

we just grab a taxi when we get outside after getting our bags. it cost about $40 plus tip and its a really nice ride to get you into a vacation mode!

our travel agent used to get us transfers but we found we were stuck with about 8 other people and we were the last drop off . the private taxi is cheaper too!

Most travel agents and '..packerers..' will contract with either BERMUDA HOST-- http://www.bermudahosts.bm/ --or BEE LINE-- http://www.beelinetransportltd.com/ --and provide you with vouchers to display at their registration desks located just outside of the Arrival Hall at the airport. These private transfer service will almost always be '..shared..' and as noted, there may well be delays for other stops along your route. Since PBC is out in an area of Bermuda with fewer guest accommodations...the odds are that yours will be at the '..end-of-the-line' with a couple of stops along the way. I'll admit that this might often be a pleasant 'mini-tour' of Bermuda...but more time than not, when you come out of the airport...all you wnt to do is get '..to the beach..' in the least amount of time possible.
