Hi - To those who have been to the Marley Cottages in Bermuda, I am looking to book a trip for my family (approx 13 people, 10 adults, 2 children) for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary this Fall 2007.

Are these accomodations appropriate for approx 4-5 rooms, dining together and the possibility of having a vows renewal on the beach? Or, should I go to one of those all inclusive resorts?

Thanks in advance and please feel free to email me!

Evelyn

A recent report on this form posted that the old MARLEY BEACH COTTAGES (which had been for sale for some time since the death of its owners) has closed......or at least is not accepting reservations for the 2007 season.

If an '..all-inclusive..' is the next stop in your search, then the options for this on Bermuda will be limited to GROTTO BAY BEACH RESORT and 9 BEACHES, which offer '..all-inclusive..' rate plan options in addition to conventioanl BP and MAP rate plan options.

As an alternative to Marley Beach Cottages, you could also consider SURF SIDE (just down the South Rd. from Marley Beach), which offers much of what you wanted from Marley Beach Cottages.

You may also find Munro Beach Cottages appealing. They do have a lovely private beach but there is no on site dining. There is a golf course restaurant about five minutes walk away. Call the lady who owns Munro Beach and she can probably give you the information about vows renewal.

What a lovely way to celebrate a special day.

MUNRO BEACH COTTAGES would probably be a great alternative (if a bit less conveniently situated). But is one of the'.. best kept secrets..' on Bermuda...and has a very loyal '..multi-repeat-visit..' rate. So if you are interested in this property, you would be well advised to contact them (yesterday wouldn't be too soon) to find out if they can accommodate your group for your intended time frame--

GREG'S STEAKHOUSE located in the clubhouse at the Port Royal Golf Course is moving to the old location of either the Monte Carlo or Mediterraneo restaurants in downtown Hamilton. I haven't heard anything about who or what might be taking over the restaurant space at Port Royal as yet......but...the dining rooms of the POMAPANO BEACH CLUB are just down the lane.

You can certainly make arrangements for a '..vow renewal..' ceremony down on the semi private beach just below the cottages (a lovely spot at sunset)...and you may be able to arrange some sort of private '..reception..' at POMPANO BEACH CLUB afterward.

FYI- Greg's Steakhouse has ALREADY taken over the former 'Mediteraneo' on the corner of Church and Parliament Streets.

>>>FYI- Greg's Steakhouse has ALREADY taken over the former 'Mediteraneo' on the corner of Church and Parliament Streets.<<<

Thanks...I knew it was one of the '..M..' Italian places in Hamilton.

There is an old superstition in the restaurant business that '..M..' is an '..unlucky..' letter of the alphabet for a restaurant name...and though it may just be coincidence...M editerraneo, M onte Carlo and M. R. Onions are all either closed or about to close.

M .R. Onions (originally scheduled to temporarily close for a 2 month, off-season renovation) is now schedluled to close for good on March 31st

M ONTE CARLO closed...and the chef is going to take over the old Pirate's Landing location out at Dockyard, to be re-named '..BONE FISH RESTAURANT..'

M EDITERANEO has closed and the space taken over by GREG'S STEAKHOUSE.

There may be more than '..superstition..' involved.

Marley probably would have been a good choice for you, but as mentioned it is closing. We rented three adjacent units each summer for the last four years but when we tried to rebook for 2007 we were told they'd be closing.

If by some chance they re-consider the closing the units "Heavens Above", "Next to Heaven" and "A Bit of Heaven" all have interconnecting doors and are good for 6 adults and 2 children. There are other cottages near by for the rest of your party.
