Yes, it is a must do thing. My kids loved it. I liked the natural surrounding and a chance for me to do 4 wheelie :).

A word of caution tho. It is a rough, rough drive out there. On my way, I saw a ATV with a broken axel sitting beside the road. Horse, poor little thing, it is a very rough and long road out there. You can horse back out there but I would prefered 4X4 WITH A/C.

And do bring snorkel and fins. It's fun to dive in the pool. Wear beach shoes or tennis shoes tho, because you will be climbing on the rocks to get to the pool. Not a long climb but a climb nonetheless.

Oh and stop and enjoy the view from the top. Awesome.

It IS a must do!

But I won't do it again. As was said, it's a rough rough ride. Not for the faint of heart. We rented a 4x4. I don't know what was hardest, going down or coming back up.

I'm not sure if ATV is the best option. It's not that close and you'll probably get fried. We rented a 4x4 and thought we might DIE before we came back

Would we do it again? Probably not, I've seen better things. But would I recommend it? Yes. Aruba doesn't offer many things other than the beach and food, and just the trip itself was an adventure. Just make sure you head out early. Part of our stress was trying to find our way back before the sun set....you'll see why when you get there. THere are no real roads nor signs. If you go on your own, be prepared to get lost alot.

I also saw some horseback riding tours. That might be a better option as horses can climb those hills better than automobiles, but the "tour people" didn't stay at the pool very long. And since the pool is very small, if you come with a tour, you might not be fully appreciate it.

joecar,

Ditto!

We almost flipped over coming back. I had a whole new appreciation for Jeep 4x4 after our adventure.

If you ever have a chance, rent a stick shift for the first time and drive that along the Amalfi coast. That was equally exciting, but at least more scenic!

I did it on horseback. I didn't think it was all that great. So darn rocky in the water and slippery I almost took a header. Have to wear beach shoes. Have to wear long pants and closed shoes for horseback riding. Was dying to get in the water it was so hot, but couldn't since it was so slippery. It is about 80 or so stairs to get to the pool and don't forget you have to climb them all again. I was disappointed. Much better stuff to do then see that. Try a cruise/snorkel trip inste1ad. Money much better spent.

OK FOR THOSE WHO READ THIS 3 WEEKS AGO I ALREADY WENT AND CAME BACK AND DID GO TO THE NATURAL POOL AND MAN WAS IT AN ADVENTURE.

So i decided as opposed to doing the jeep tour we would rent a car for a day and do our own sightseeing at our own pace.

Well we did the typical like Natural bridge & lighthouse, ostrich etc.

Anyway we decide natural pool time.We had a 4x4 little suv not a wrangler and drove all the way up to the last point right before you go up the hill and where you will begin to need a 4x4 or ATV.Anyway so we decided the hills were too much to chance with this car.

And there is a house right before the road and lady was driving people up in here 4x4 Truck. And we were gonna walk it but heard its treacherous and takes 4 mins.Anyway we park and decide well pay her the 20.00 bucks to get there and back.

So here is this little old asian woman driving around in the monster 4x4 it was a sight. And there was a dutch woman whi i kid not must have weighed 320 lbs i kid you not with us but well get back to her later. So against my g/fs judgement i say lets do it.It was about 3 hrs to dark at that point. We ride up takes about 15 mins of bumpy bumpy almost tip over roads but first we had to stop for 5 mins because the dutch woman was afraid to go so they had to convince her to come again.

We get there and i change and so does my G/f it takes about 10 mins and then we start scaling the stairs. The Large woman is only 1/4 of the way down. Now all i can say is that it is very dangerous for her to be trying to navigate those stairs at her weight. We go past them swim around in the pool for about 30 mins and i must say it is marvelous and VERY VERY VERY DANGEROUS you must be very careful on the rocks.YOU CAN DIE no joke.Be very careful with kids as well.

Finally after 30 mins this woman finally makes it to the pool ENTRANCE.and sun is starting to make its way down.Anyway she spends another 15 mins gettin just to the rocks on this pool walking about as slow as you could imagine. She literally took breaks between steps for abuot 30 seconds.

finally she gets to the rocks put her hands out and begins to pray as in a trance.I said this is it.I tell my g/f there is no way we are waiting for this woman to climb all the way back up this mountain after she hangs out here for 25 mins.It will literally take and hour and a half.

Before i could finish what i was saying she gave me those what are you thinking eyes.It had to be done.

WE MUST WALK IT.

OMG.This was a journey. It was the most dificult hike of my life i felt like i was back in Football camp in HS.I just wanted to keep putting sunscreen on the be cautious. The walk would not end uphill.I felt bad gipping the woman out of 20.00 but hey anyone who knows the road back to civilization knows it would be impossible at night to drive i would have gotten lost.

Make sure you get to the pool early and take a tour.DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HIKE IT.

We did the tour with DePalm and one of 6 people drives a landrover that is led by a tour person. It is the only way I'd go. They know the terrain which can be rough and ever my husband(who drove) said it could be dangerous. He was glad we went with a group and a leader.

Don't miss the natural pool. It is something to experience. There are also other stops on this tour.

Our first time in Aruba we did the horseback riding tour to the natural pool and there wasn’t enough time for a swim. Last summer (June 05) we returned to Aruba and decided me must do the natural pool again but this time on our own and we rented a 4x4 jeep. I think it was from Avis for $80/day. They will pick you up from your hotel to the rental place, which is across from the Hyatt. . (please note you’re not allowed to drive off road. If anything happened to your rented vehicle, you’re responsible). Everyone who rents knows it and does it anyway. It was an adventure and I will never forget. It was a very long and rough, rocky and bumpy road (we were bouncing up and down in the jeep) and there were no signs. We would never have found it if it wouldn’t be for the tour group. We followed them from the distance. My husband had a great time in the pool. I can’t swim and stayed on top and watched. The waves are very very rough and they crashing into the rocks. You must be a good swimmer to experience the natural pool. One girl got knocked out by the waves and almost drifted out to the ocean if it weren’t be for the two guys that saved her (the one guy was my husband). On the way back the jeep had a tough time climbing up those rocks. I even got out several times to remove some of the big rocks out of the way and while driving uphill one of the rocks slid the tire. And boy oh boy you should have seen our faces…I was literally in tears, scared and almost peed in my pants. OMG what are we going to do…we were helpless..and all of a sudden our guardian angels came by (there were 2 jeeps and they were from New Jersey, and they asked us “do you need help?”) They got out and drove our jeep to a flat area where the two guys changed the tire. They did it so fast and took off before we even had a chance to ask for their names or where they were staying. Whoever you are we thank YOU and to this day we never forget you. Would we do it again?? NO, not on our own. I would take the jeep tour.
