American Airlines/Jet Blue (esp. from Boston)

Hi again -

I am booking a trip to Aruba the first week in November... I have been constantly watching the flights and just today direct flights were added from Boston to Aruba for both the Saturday we are leaving and the Saturday we are returning. I have read some reviews that say AA lures you in with direct flights and then changes them to include a layover at the last minute. Has anyone experienced this? If so, am I better off paying more $$ for Jet Blue? Thank you!

I just have our one experience to share....

We booked direct flights to Aruba from Boston in September 2007 for this month (May 2008). About two months after booking the tickets the flights were changed from direct to one stop each and the arriving flight was horrid. We were able to get a better flight, but we're flying out at 6 am, Boston to JFK, JFK to Aruba. Coming home, Aruba to Miami, Miami to Boston.

We used miles. If I was buying the tickets I would definitely pay a bit more to go direct via Jet Blue.

Jet Blue hands down....I am not from Boston, but used to fly them alot in the DC area and have never had any problems with them.....plus, their planes are so much more comfortable (the AA planes I have flown are always older!)...have a great trip!

We have had AA do this to us more than once especially in the off season. We just did Jetblue non-stop from Boston last month and it was great !! No line at the airport in Aruba and seats are very comfortable with plenty of legroom.

Jet Blue...I will never fly AA to Aruba again...largest carrier to Aruba = longest lines.

Having flown both, I would recommend JetBlue over AA. Two years ago, we booked our flight to Aruba on-line with AA, only to arrive at the airport at 6 a.m. to be told our flight was changed to 10 a.m. Needless to say, we were less than pleased.

Last year, we flew with JetBlue. No issues - departed on time and arrived a few minutes ahead of schedule. The seats were comfortable and rather than being given 'bad airline food,' quality snacks and soft drinks were provided.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like Jet Blue is definitely the safer bet...
