I'm glad to see one responder take exception to "marshall's" comments about Grand Pineapple. We've had reservations there for some time now for 15-21 Jan and "marshall" and a few other people really worried me at first. It amazes me to see the differences in reviews. But I believe when 12-15 people say a place is pleasant, nice, with nice staff, etc., and one or two people come along and say it was horrible and the staff was mean and unfriendly - you can just guess what attitude these guests arrived with. I got some very good advice on one of these forums a while back. The reviewer said that when she arrives at a new/different resort she tries to put on a big smile, greet the staff warmly and if there are any immediate problems she tries to talk through them reasonably. She said she'd never had a bad vacation - I can just imagine what a nice change she is to the average guest. I don't think you have to treat most staff with kid gloves, but you do have to treat them like PEOPLE and not make outrageous demands. You're on vacation - slow down and enjoy it. I haven't been to Antigua before, but judging from the other Caribbean islands I have been to - most everyone there is on "Caribbean time." They rarely hurry - why would you want to?
